Midwives are awesome people/caregivers. And pretty badass, to boot.

(15,950 posts)Good thing Ms Midwife caught her. Yikes if BG would've hit the pavement!
I think her name should be Sw'emily!

(55,019 posts)but anything is better than in a hospital bed on your back (at least to me)
I had both of mine at home with midwives, and stand-squat is way easier.

(9,164 posts)Her, or his, birth will be on the internet forever. I certainly hope the couple gave permission to whoever originally posted it online.
Call me old fashioned. I'm OK with some major milestones being available for everybody in the world to view...graduations, marriage ceremonies...
But, I draw the line at births and deaths. It's just kind of creepy, in a voyeuristic, Black Mirror kind of way.

(38,322 posts)I really didn't know what I was in for when we married.
She delivers babies.
She also stops at car accidents of the most gruesome sort.
My wife and I have both done triage, my wife the bloodiest kind.
Our children have stories. They have the academic powers but they ran away from medicine.
So did I.
I used to work with transplant people, the most awesome people in the world. I packaged living bits of dead people in coolers.
It haunts me.
My wife is never going to quit. Medicine is her calling.
She'll be there for the beginning and the end.

(32,706 posts)This just floors me that the mom had to continue walking with her baby in her arms INTO THE CLINIC!
Is there nobody there to do the job that the midwife just did for them? This is equally amazing and horrible.
I couldn't believe that she could actually walk and kept waiting for a nurse with a wheelchair. After going thru labor, legs are usually like rubber.

(411 posts)I got to deliver a sweet baby girl in the hospital, it was so sweet. Her moms first babe was born in the Disneyland parking lot. It is always a miracle.

(28,125 posts)Don't understand how she could keep her pants on.
I had to spread wide on a table for my 9lb 8oz kiddo to pop out. (He was a big, long baby & I'm a little gal, so feel sorry for me.

(14,132 posts)My daughter was stubborn (still is). She was 7.12 and I was in labor for about 18 hrs. It was Pitocin or a C-section. I chose Pitocin.
Edit to add: and 21" long!

(236 posts)Nice that the birth went well, but the cop's behavior made me cringe the entire time. I'm sure they could've "helped" by giving the Rona to the new family.
