... Trump is now defending himself not just by claiming he wasnt briefed on that intelligence, or just by contesting the significance of that intelligence. Instead .. hes suggesting no intelligence ever actually indicated anything like this.
... this defense is itself deeply self-incriminating. It only underscores what critics are saying that at minimum, Trump should be taking this intelligence seriously and trying to get to the bottom of what it actually does indicate, even if the worst interpretation proves wrong ...
... moments later Trump reposted a tweet vowing to veto the Defense Authorization Bill if it renames military installations named after Confederate generals. This juxtaposed Trumps defense of monuments to traitors alongside his blithe unconcern about a foreign power potentially paying for the killing of Americans ...
Reports have indicated that Trump actually was provided with a written briefing on this intelligence which he probably didnt read. The White House has cagily said Trump wasnt directly briefed without saying whether he was given a written briefing, while insisting that of course he reads whats presented to him ...

(31,113 posts)GOP are our actual, physical enemies.
They are trying to kill our soldiers (if they cared about those soldiers they would remove traitor today, they wont) and us. They are using the virus now, purposely NOT stopping it, to kill us.
Hey republicans, why do you want to kill so many of us?

(6,556 posts)The same is true for tRump!
After both Doctors and Scientists told him in person, "Do not stare directly at the eclipse without wearing eye protection. You could permanently damage your eyes", what does the "most informed person on the planet" do? THE "MOST INFORMED PERSON ON THE PLANET" STARES DIRECTLY AT THE ECLIPSE WEARING NO EYE PROTECTION!
It doesn't matter what he's told. It doesn't matter what he reads. He has absolutely no cognitive awareness of his surroundings whatsoever. His brain short-circuits and he can't remember anything he was told only moments before. He shouldn't be allowed to paint the White House, let alone reside there and pretend he's qualified to be President of the United States of America.

(442 posts)I'm not sure if it's mental illness, arrogance, stupidity or a magical combo of all of the above. He doesn't care if anyone knows he's lying. He only cares that he has a group of zombies willing to follow him off the cliff.
If this was a movie, I'd be waiting for the Bat Signal.

I45 missed the memo, and instead of responding with due importance on high priority like a normal person, pretends like it never existed. Just because you missed the initial warning of a fire in the building doesn't mean you should dally in getting the heck out of the building once you do know.

(43,249 posts)He's got several screws loose. Everything he comes in contact with he goes against it. Permanent, hard-wired, reflexive gaslighting. So macho he knows everything, has perfect insight and judgment, and never has to guess because he is never wrong.
This is one sick f*ck!

(19,204 posts)That's it in a nutshell. They want him to imprint the republican brand of fascism upon the federal government while he can. They know his time is almost over, but in the meantime they want total slash and burn republican politics tainting everything.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/russian-bounties-for-killing-americans-go-back-five-years-ex-taliban-claims/ar-BB16dpDF?
The Russians paying U.S. dollarsits not odd for the Taliban, he said, his voice fraught with irony over the encrypted phone call as he recalled the Airstan incident. As for the current situation, The Taliban have been paid by Russian intelligence for attacks on U.S. forcesand on ISIS forcesin Afghanistan from 2014 up to the present.
In the world of intelligence gathering, such a statement from such a figure would be worth noting, and just the kind of thing that could lead to what the Drumpf White House has called inconclusive reporting the Russian offer of bounties to kill Americans.
Mullah Manan Niazi was a very senior figure in the Taliban when they were in power, and also when they were driven into exile and underground after 2001. But since the death of Mullah Omar was made public in 2015, he has been a dissident and liable to be killed by the current Taliban leadership if it catches up with him. They have accused him of collaborating with the CIA and the Afghan governments intelligence service, the National Directorate of Security (NDS), which he denies.
So, Niazi speaks as someone who knows the organization and its top people very well, but who also has an agenda very different from theirs, with his own reasons for confirming the bounty story, and he does not offer further specifics on that. But he does offer details about what he says are the longstanding ties between the Taliban and the Russians as well as the Iranians, and U.S. officials have been tracking those developments.
