op-ed by Susan Rice in todays New York Times.
Heres the closing paragraph
What must we conclude from all this? At best, our commander in chief is utterly derelict in his duties, presiding over a dangerously dysfunctional national security process that is putting our country and those who wear its uniform at great risk. At worst, the White House is being run by liars and wimps catering to a tyrannical president who is actively advancing our arch adversarys nefarious interests.

(8,200 posts)I am an Independent for one and only one reason. I have seen time and time again where a person's party affiliation is so intense that they are totally oblivious to the most egregious behavior ranging from being immoral to being out rightly illegal. However, I do believe that it has been far more prevalent by Republicans than Democratic politicians. This is clearly bore out by the presidencies of Nixon whose was an outright criminal, along with Reagan, the Bush-Cheney administration and now Trump. It is even worse on the local level where it has infected those who are sworn to protect us and are little more than vigilantes with a star, club and gun who are allowed to terrorize with the full approval of the racist rathole Republican party.

(86,608 posts)to condemn the dolt in every format possible. I am thankful Amb. Rice has taken to write about this, her voice is large. She has a demeanor very much like Obama's. I wonder if she was his chess opponent.

(297,216 posts)Down the River for 4 years as the squatter & malicious tweeter in the WH.. and who knows what he's been doing behind the scenes before that.
This latest betrayal of our Soldiers is deadly and it doesn't look like it's going to be so easily spun like he's also attempted to do with COVID for months and failing miserably..
When he lies bald faced about the size of the inauguration .. he'll Lie about anything.. and does.
I can hardly wait until this nightmare is done. We have been infiltrated and eaten at from our core by vermin and parasites... application of the remedy is at hand.
The bridge has been crossed and the regime is on one side, the rest of us on the other. I come from a military family, even the generation after me and though I hated the experience of being a military dependent growing up, I have respect for the institution which has been offended from the top this whole time. They now have discovered that their real mission is to defend against the CiC, which is truly troubling.
I am confident we will survive all this but it's going to leave a lot of damage behind.

(297,216 posts)candidate.. blackmailed instead of brainwashed.. and he's been kowtowing to Putin in plain sight for four freaking years.. arrogantly thinking no one can do anything about it since he has the Senate in his pocket.
And, now this has come out through anonymous leaks, to hold Putin accountable for his bounties on our Soldiers & the UK's.. & to save our country.. Thank Goodness for Real Heroes!
First we get rid of the Vermin.. Fumigate, exorcise, and yes it will leave Unparalleled destruction in its wake.. but like Biden has said over and over.. We Can DO IT Together!

(86,608 posts)the best choice. She's a lot like Obama, we could really benefit by having her as VP.

(63,912 posts)On that point she gets hands down support, IMO.
I think the Biden campaign is weighing that question very seriously as they search for the right VP candidate. That's how different this campaign is compared to past campaigns where VP running mates were considered based on the states he could help carry.
She brings that wonderful memory of the Obama administration and her role internationally as a calm and intelligent representative of our country.
God, I miss that...

(82,849 posts)Usually spoken of in terms of the military, dereliction of duty is a very good way to characterize Trump's unfocused, scattershot, feckless response to the pandemic and to the reports of Putin's pay-for-slay program. I intend to use it.
