Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsSusan Rice was just on Rachel and just about called trump a traitor.
She stopped short of saying traitor. She said that his failure to act upon the intel of Putin paying bounties was a colossal failure and an extreme case of disloyalty to our troops and country. She also implicated Esper and Pompeo and all the other top admin officials who all receive the PDB, which included this intel months ago, for not immediately walking into the Oval office and telling the president that they would immediately convene the National Security Council to track down and verify the intel and then work up options for him to pursue in retaliation, ranging from at the lowest leveldiplomatic measures to mid-level possible economic sanctions to top level military options.
Since they all failed to do their duty, and trump hasn't reacted to the Russian aggression to our troops, and has had several phone calls and interactions with Putin to try to get Russia back in the G-8 as well as inviting him to Washington, they all are complicit.
The above scenario would of course be if trump was also in the loop and was about to call them in. Rice said there is no way for trump to be out of the loop even if trump and McEnany claim he wasn't informed, as all of those other officials are duty bound to inform him and work up the above options.
Again, there is no way for trump not to know. He ignored it, allowed the aggression against our troops to continue and made continued overtures to ingratiate himself into Putin's favor.
Rice was so steely and straight forward in knowing exactly what to do, IMO she should be a front runner for VP.

(2,065 posts)She was very judicious with her words in stopping short of calling Trump a traitor, and I suppose that she was technically right in not calling him that, since there has been no formal declaration of war against Russia. I myself would not have been able to muster such restraint - I'd be yelling, "Trump is a traitor" from the rooftops. Yeah, Susan Rice might just be the best pick for VP to whip the country back into shape and undo all the diplomatic and national security damage that Trump has done.

(70,711 posts)In another news item, about SHITLER's being his usual piece of excrement in how he abused women heads-of-state, the Watergate lesser-half, Carl BERNSTEIN said that SHITLER was " *near*-sadistic." Now, words being BERNSTEIN's tools, he should be smarter than the average bear about using them - either somebody is sadistic or they're not. And adding a layer to the irony, Nora EPHRON's book and movie about being married to philanderer BERNSTEIN, Heartburn, take the edge off of his defense of women.
So here am just reacting to RICE stopping short of calling SHITLER "traitor." Well, she didn't say it with a modifier attached, like "almost." Either he is or he's not. I vote "yes."

(53,788 posts)Her actual wording is different. She used "disloyal" to the troops and the nation if I recall. And since we are not at war with Russia he doesn't actually qualify as a traitor. Putin boot licker, ass kisser and obsequious a-hole all apply, but not a traitor, yet.
Another poster posted a video on this thread of Rice's interview with Maddow. You can view it for yourself.

(70,711 posts)Although, now that you raised the point, I don't think we have to be at war for there to be treason.

(70,711 posts)It's just that since seeing the morning thread about "NEAR-sadistic" and then this about "ALMOST traitor" - my low tolerance bubbled over!1 My elderly sister fumes when I am picky about her fuzzy language!1 Here refrain is that I am picky and KNOW what she means!1 In talking with her and others I have to keep track of my own meaning while I simultaneously gauge how *they* process what they hear and how they interpret things.
