The Pentagon Was "Pounding Down the Door" to Get Trump To Respond to Russian Bounties on U.S. Soldie

The Pentagon Was “Pounding Down the Door” to Get Trump To Respond to Russian Bounties on U.S. Soldiers

Pentagon officials tried desperately to get President Donald Trump to do something about Russian bounties on U.S. soldiers. That’s according to The Washington Post‘s David Ignatius.

Ignatius spoke to MSNBC’s Morning Joe program on Monday. He said the Pentagon had tried to get the President to act but he had failed to do so,

“Based on my reporting trying to confirm The New York Times’ excellent story it’s clear in late March you had senior U.S commanders, senior civilian intelligence officials, in effect pounding on the door of the White House saying we need to do something about this,” Ignatius said.

“We need to come to a conclusion about what damage the Russian program is doing, we need to reassess our programs in Afghanistan and they couldn’t get an answer.”

“To this day there’s not an answer, there’s not a real response” he said.

“Was this because the President was briefed and did nothing or because he wasn’t briefed because people were afraid to give him bad news and kept it to themselves? I don’t know.”

“But it almost doesn’t matter in terms of the breakdown in terms of the way the government is supposed to work.”

“In some ways, it’s almost worse the department didn’t tell him, ‘Mr. President while you’re encouraging Russia to rejoin the G8, we should mention Russia is putting bounties on the heads of American soldiers.’ If they didn’t tell him that, it’s a stunner.”

President Trump has denied he knew about Russia offering bounties for the deaths of U.S. soldiers. He’s also claimed the story isn’t credible.

In May he invited russia to g7.

The president’s saying he would invite Russia — which was indefinitely suspended from the group in 2014 after the annexing of Crimea from Ukraine — could inflame other member nations.

That big ol’ IF (if he knew, that is) is being dangled as though it provides an out for Cheeto Benito. He’s already ruined that excuse, however, by saying the report was deemed untrue. No more of this shit. Not this time.

That is all that matters.

They ignored it and tried to reward Russia with entry to the G7.

Treason.

18 U.S.C. § 2381 states:

Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason and shall suffer death, or shall be imprisoned not less than five years and fined under this title but not less than $10,000; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States.

Everything else is filtered out as fake news or worthless information.

I am 100% positive both Trump and Pence knew what Putin was doing.
Trump simply wasn't about to take any action that would create a problem for him with Putin.
And, Pence wasn't going to say anything that might rock the boat since he doesn't want Trump to replace him at the VP slot.
I'm pretty sure Pence realizes that if Trump doesn't run for reelection, he has no chance to get the nomination himself. He has no widespread support anywhere in the country.

They both know that Trump's base will believe whatever Trump says to spin this news.
So there best bet was to say/do nothing and hope it never was revealed to the public.

I think it is being revealed now as a means to force Trump out of the campaign. If they can force him out, the Republicans hope to cut their losses in the fall election, and save their majority in the Senate; possibly even elect a Republican President.

If Trump decides to continue his reelection bid, the Republicans will lose everything this fall.
This was obvious even if this news never saw the light of day.

of some people who I’ve helped train in the past to do their jobs who, in spite of every effort on my part and some others’ part, keep making the same mistake again and again, claiming with wide eyed innocence that nobody told them it was done that way. It’s a way of deflecting away from their own obtuseness by blaming those who trained them. People who refuse to own their own accountability.

In my experience it was and is a way of life for the willfully incompetent. People who are fundamentally dishonest as a way out of doing things right. People who leave a path of detritus for others to clean up.

Just like he believed he had formed a special bond with Kim Jong Un that no other president could have achieved because, well, he is Donald Trump, the Great Deal Maker. That's why he's inclined to believe them over U.S. intelligence agencies. He can't conceive that the aforementioned dictators might just be using him for their own ends.
