(6,044 posts)Twittter user decided to use the popular Karen meme.
The amount of property damage seen probably would justify misdemeanor charge.
In the only Defund Police plan I have seen this incident might be handled by a social service agency.
In some jurisdictions near me this person might be charged and diverted to anger management programs. If drug usage involved might be sent to classes.

(21,611 posts)6 different people in 3 different stores because they were not wearing masks.
First was a drug store for a prescription. A man at the pharmacy counter had a bandana pulled down to his neck. Changed my position to avoid him. At the checkout in front, a man and woman each had masks dangling around their necks. CVS policy is say nothing to people without masks. So I walked down an aisle and came back to the front from the other side of them to reachvthe door.
The drugstore is in a plaza so I made 2 other stops for necessities while out. At one store 2 people were coming out the door without masks. Waited until they were out to the parking lot before entering, got 2 items and quickly left.
Last store for 1 item. Employee on break stood at checkout with mask down to his neck, chatting with cashier. I stayed behind the plexiglass on my side and retraced my steps backward to avoid passing him on the way out.
Shopping is an obstacle course these days.

It was very cleverly done.
Totaled up, it was about $88.37 of damaged food.

(8,924 posts)They could have used a more contrasting color, because it was hard to read.
I believe the people who made this video actually work at the store.
When they cleaned up, they noted each item, otherwise, it would be too hard to tell what is being thrown.
The last thing the customer threw was her mask.
She tossed it straight up, but I never saw come back down.

(21,611 posts)Sentence her to anger management training and restitution for $88.37. If she refuses a class, counseling, or restitution, then 2 to 4 weeks in jail.

(32,767 posts)... but how about when she entered the store? She walked around the store for 20 minutes or a half hour, collected all that stuff in her basket, and nobody said anything?
I don't know about other places, but in Pittsburgh we have signs on the front door of every grocery store saying you must wear a mask at all times in our store. Most of the larger stores post an employee at the door to check people coming in, and stop them if they aren't wearing their mask.
This Karen wouldn't have gotten very far if she were in Pittsburgh or any eastern city.

(34,137 posts)She probably wore it into the store and took it off while inside.
Here is another thread about this women and another entitled female brat: https://www.democraticunderground.com/100213668267
A witness saw the other woman standing in line to get into the store. Then she took her mask off, wandered around putting nothing in her basket, and was aggressive about getting close to other people. WHen she was called out, she pitched a fit. Completely staged on her part.
I suspect this woman had no intention of actually buying anything if she couldn't do it without endangering other people. Why else would she wear a mask to get in and not keep it on her face?

(47,602 posts)These outrageous reactions to wearing a mask is far too common. I've seen tantrums in stores before, but no one over the age of four actually throwing merchandise. This kind of behavior appears to be as contagious as the virus, some kind of mass insanity.

(33,400 posts)Then the pressure cooker explodes.
Doesn't make it right, but we're seeing Americans lose it everywhere, from individuals to groups.
and then Trump just eggs them all on, seeming to encourage their uncivilized behavior. I can seen prolonged quarantines bringing the worst out in people, then add the protests against police brutality, a failing economy, and the uncertainty of an erratic and reckless president, you have a perfect storm. Most presidents have faced times of serious crisis, but Trump doesn't know how to lead or govern, so I suppose chaos is inevitable. You can't just throw rallies and tweet all day and expect things to get better.

(9,894 posts)I am a totally well-behaved person in public. Follow the rules, I'm polite, I try not to get in other people's way... But the mask, which I do wear (good little conformist) has the potential of making me completely lose it when combined with everything else in my last six months. I truly feel that I might break something one of these days, but I am working on it.

(10,078 posts)In fact, she should not have been allowed in the store. My grocery has someone stationed at each entranceno mask, no entry. And they have employees roaming around the store as well so people who take off their masks once inside can be reminded of the stores policy. Private businesses have a right to set and enforce their policies. Being required to wear a mask is no different than being required to wear a shirt.
Entitled people like this woman need to be reminded that the free market capitalism she most likely supports gives businesses rights also. Im beyond fed up with people like this. They need to go back under their rocks and stay there.

(34,481 posts)that out when a couple entered the store I was in and began loudly shouting threats at each other. I asked the service desk whether security should be called to escort them out and was told they had no one.
So in this instance of property destruction and disorderly conduct, I guess the manager should have had employees ask her to stop and called police.

(5,645 posts)tilted their worldview to the point that they think it is time to revolt.
They are constantly barraged with hate mongers telling them they are being attacked by the evil liberal left and that their christo-fascist culture is under attack. They are told it is time to fight back. They are being told there is a organized effort being waged to oust president dump and all Christians. They believe they are fighting a culture war.
You can't listen to faux news and hate radio all day 24/7 without doing some serious mental damage. Then they get on the internet and read Q CT which further fuels their madness.
We are in big trouble as a nation and it will not go away with dump out of office. He is like the tip of the iceberg.

(21,611 posts)Very long article about de-trumpizing the country when he's voted out, like de-nazifying Germany after WWII. Worth reading it through.
It advocates RICO charges for entire Trump organization and making it illegal for members of the Federalist Society to become judges. Then suggests reaching out to Magas regarding any legitimate issues (jobs, income inequality) that led them to Trump and addressing them through progressive programs that apply to ALL people.
They need detoxifying or deprogramming the same as any people who join or are raised in a cult. Not in the article, but my idea: Invest in left wing or politically neutral media. Offer creative media programs, music, art, film, etc. that appeal to humanizing aspects of human nature as alternatives to hate culture media.
I don't have the url but it is at the Alternet website. Headed as "Trump may lose in November and trigger a new national crisis." Author is John Feffer, Director of Foreign Policy in Focus, at the Institute for Foreign Studies.
The crisis he writes about is all the Trumpists who will seek out a new leader and work to oppose Biden like the Tea Party did with Obama.
