Democrats Decide to Wait Until After the Election to Fully Attack, Just Like They Did in 2016. How'd That Work Out?

snip//

This is not just the realm of hindsight. Right now, in 2020, Donald Trump's absolute refusal to have a unified, national policy on a fucking virus that is fucking killing tens of thousands of people every month should be the organizing principle for Democrats, prompting them to propose radical action like health care for everyone or at least that the government pay for coronavirus shit (since, you know, people are ending up with massive bills for catching COVID-19). Yes, House Democrats are having hearings. Why not have some social-distanced town halls with people who suffered because of Republican incompetence and cruelty? Why not take out ads of their own and not rely on the scum-fucking Never Trump Republicans (who will savagely turn against Democrats as soon as Trump is gone, and they'll pretend like Trump didn't happen, just as they pretend like they aren't the reason that Trump is there in the first place)? On the pandemic, you can make the case that we can't wait until January to have a coherent strategy because, really, we fucking well can't.

Or maybe, on another shitpile in the cow pasture of Trump's scandals, they could impeach Attorney General and man who looks as if he masturbates to animal-stabbing porn William Barr. Yet today Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi said, "One hundred and thirty-one days from now, we will have the solution to many problems, one of them being Barr," adding that Barr "is contemptible. There’s no question about that. But at this point, let’s solve our problems by going to the polls and voting on Election Day."

And all I could think was "How'd that work out in 2016?"

I know, I know, I fucking know that Trump isn't gonna be removed from office. But Democrats could unify around a message that Trump has extravagantly failed at the pandemic and should resign. Why not? Why not make that the rallying cry? Why not say that the nation needs to put saving American lives in places like, oh, shit, maybe Florida or Arizona or Texas, hey, not just traditionally blue states anymore, above politics?

It won't happen. (Or it might, in which case, whoa.) But the message comes in clear that this is a failed presidency and that those who still follow Trump are supporting a failure. It's not that he's vulgar or racist or insulting. The narrative is that he's killing us. He's hurting our bodies, and he's hurting our businesses, and he's hurting our future.

Stop being afraid to name the enemy as the enemy. And, more importantly, stop being afraid to treat the enemy as the enemy now, not as a battle in some hoped-for future.

his GOP enablers have killed tens of thousands of Americans so far as a result of their willful and murderous incompetence. Some nights she's rendered speechless by the lack of an organized response by those who obviously know better. It's been painful to watch Maddow express how helpless we are in the face of Trump's criminal refusal to prevent the deaths of tens of thousands of our fellow Americans.

Who is getting the virus and whose dying from it in percentages higher the their population? Why are so many afraid to yell this from the rooftop? Why are no questions being asked if this is being done on purpose. For example Miami-Dade has 25 percent of all positives. Hmmmm. Could that be a democratic area? Hmmmm. Am I out to lunch on this? Should I delete this? I guess I just want the truth about trump agenda.

One hears it in the responses of too many when asked why they're not more concerned about this deadly pandemic; they really don't believe it affects them, just those "other people." I'll readily admit it sounds like some loony conspiracy theory, but I wouldn't be surprised if someone eventually uncovered a plot that certain communities were allowed to be infected with this virus, as some form of a "final solution."

The virus doesn't pay much attention to race or socioeconomic status - it does however kill more readily in African American and lower income communities - but plenty of the 'right' people have become sickened and have died and will continue to do so.

The lack of response is a direct result of a lack of coherent, science-based national leadership.

Full stop.

pull them off without others finding out. Still, it's obvious ill-intentioned people often create circumstances, either by enacting specific policies or from neglect, that end up causing great harm to certain communities. I suspect the lack of coherent, science-based national leadership has much to do with the types of communities most affected by COVID-19.

that the repub party is the party of marketing and have been sucking folks in since reagan. I watched in horror as repubs won election after election. The Dems had to fight for money to stay competitive. Too many folks do not know our past. Attacking Dems show they don't know it. Now after a couple of generations (Millennials & GenZ) we have the numbers to win. Let's focus on now and not the past.

That is a MAJOR point in our country today. It seems like the only party that thinks their ideas are worth FIGHTING for, are the ones in the party that are destroying what is best and strong and beautiful about our country.

Democrats have to care enough to fight, or we're going to just mellow ourselves right out of a democracy, and a right to vote. Do we even deserve to vote if we're not willing to take earth-shaking action, when we already know what's coming?

The bad guys have the guns AND most of the long arm of the law under their belts, on their side. Just because our side is the right one, doesn't mean we can take a wet noodle to a gun fight and come out of it alive.

The republicans are killing our country. Is it worth fighting for? Or is it just worth waiting them out and hoping for the best?

Our protests are a game-changer, but we need to make sure we have a media that will keep our message before the public to overcome the lies and propaganda. We need to advertise.

Disagree.

Malinowski in the 7th - he has a different style of communicating than Joe, and he needs to focus on Kitchen Table Issues, Justice, and Health Care. The Trump Admin gave him a loaded gun to take out Tom Kean Jr last night. His supporters, myself included -are blasting Tom Kean Jr for having a rally with Trump earlier this year in Atlantic City.

Time for some vicious ads which can have an advantage that Right wing ads seldom have: they are true.

Time for messaging discipline, every Dem in every interview or short TV appearance hammering the same talking points day and night.
