FLIPPABLE: Lindsey Constance for KS-SD10

Lindsey Constance is an educator, city councilmember, community leader, and a mom raising fourth-generation Kansans. With 16 years of education experience, Lindsey currently serves families in the Shawnee Mission School District as a leader in the areas of science and engineering instruction, mentorship, and teacher professional development. Lindsey is dedicated to creating a brighter future for all Kansans.

Lindsey earned Master’s degrees from the University of Kansas in Curriculum and Instruction as well as Education, Leadership and Policy Studies. She is the recipient of the Presidential Award for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching, the Global Hero Award, and the Kansas Green School of the Year Award. She was also selected as a National Science Foundation Mentor for K-State Engineering students.

Lindsey was elected to the Shawnee City Council in 2017. Her priorities have included encouraging smart, future-focused development, advocating for energy efficiency and renewable energy, and promoting community health through enhancements in walkability and support for parks. Lindsey also serves as a leader in the national conversation as a member of the National League of Cities’ Energy, Environment and Natural Resources Committee and the Council on Youth, Families and Education. A collaborative and practical leader, Lindsey earned the Johnson County League of Women Voters “Making Democracy Work” award in May of 2019.

Lindsey is the co-founder of the Climate Action KC, whose mission is to enact and foster proactive strategies, systems and structures within the region that will drawdown greenhouse gases, improve climate resiliency and generate corresponding economic, social health, and quality of life benefits. Together with 100+ other local leaders and elected officials, Climate Action hosted a Summit for 750 leaders, published a Climate Action Playbook for local officials, and is currently facilitating a regional Climate Action Plan along with the Mid America Regional Council.

Lindsey is married with two young children, who together with the students she has taught over the years, serve as her key motivators to make a difference as a local leader.
