Case against father of mass shooter who returned guns to him will continue

Jeffrey Reinking's request to dismiss a firearms case against him has been denied in Tazewell County court.

Jeffrey Reinking awaits trial on a charge of unlawfully returning confiscated firearms to his son, Travis Reinking. One of which was allegedly used by Travis Reinking in the Waffle House shooting near Nashville, Tennessee in 2018 that left four dead.

Travis Reinking had been a patient in a mental institution. State law prohibits giving or selling a firearm to someone who has been in such a facility within five years of the transaction.

The weapons were taken from Travis and placed into Jeffrey Reinking's care when his Illinois FOID card was revoked due to moving out of state. Travis Reinking requested their return when he moved to Tennessee.

Associates and family members of "mentally ill" mass shooters should be held accountable if they made the shooting possible. Sounds fair.
