Trump holding a bible will not hold well with those that know the bible.

No, I have never quoted the bible before, but there is always a first time, About holding false witness:

Commandment 9: Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor

There are six things that the LORD strongly dislikes, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a llying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers.

—?Proverbs 6:16–19

True believers in the bible, will see Trump holding one as an insult. He is the very last person who believes in the bible...read the above, (especially about ...a lying tongue)

I will add respectfully: Some, very few, will see Trump's holding a bible as his faith in the bible. But those that care about the bible's meaning will understand that Trump is the very last person to believe in the bible, or the commandments. Most will see the truth that Trump is a liar and also a total & complete hypocrite

4. Perhaps, but one of those Commandments is pretty simple: "Thou shalt not lie"

Trump lies about everything and anything. We all know that. A certain number of Trump supporters are offended by his complete lies. Perhaps they will not vote at all, instead of voting against Trump. A Trump supporter who doesn't vote at all, is giving strength to Biden. Yes, Trump is offensive, but we only know through some posts here, that many republicans who support their party will definitely not vote for Donald Trump. Trump, I think, will not get better, but I think he will get worse. That is my opinion, but we will see........

11. To most Christians, the Bible is a buffet of tales and can be cherry-picked at will.

To most Christians, the Bible is a buffet of tales and can be cherry-picked at will.

Believe the parts you like and ignore the rest.

One major example of that is divorce.

Jesus was very specific and vocal about divorce, remarriage, and adultery.

There are very few churches that practice what Jesus spake.

5. The Bible is a big book, with lots of contradictory stuff in it.

For example, the Bible is stuffed with stories about men who did much worse things than Trump has ever dreamed of doing, whom God put into positions of great power, and showered with His favor and His blessings. That makes it pretty hard to convince Christians that God would never pick someone as awful as Trump to be President, doesn't it?

7. We will see."Thou shalt not lie" is a pretty simple thought.& That is all Trump does.

..Trump doesn't care about anything but himself. Holding the bible is the exact opposite of what Trump really believes in. It was a "photo op" and some will be offended. I said "some" & I don't know any. But that is because I don't know many supporters. But here in Democratic Underground we have seen a few stories of former republicans who will not vote for Trump. And his poll numbers are down. (Yes it is June) ..but Trump has been lying to the country for 3 & 1/2 years. My belief is he cannot win and will not win. Trump is a lying, foolish bully. And, Trump has proved that to most (65 percent) of us.

9. I think he's going to lose some of the Christian vote.

I think you're right about that. He got the majority of Christians' votes in 2016 - not just white Evangelicals, but 58% of Protestants, 52% of Catholics, and 61% of Mormons. It's possible that this time around, he won't get the majority of Christians' votes. That's important, because if he doesn't get most of the Christians, he can't win. Non-Christians overwhelmingly went for Clinton in 2016, and I'm certain we can count on them to support Biden in November.

10. But worshipping a golden idol that kills people is another thing...

...Trump said the virus would go away. It did not go away, and has killed over 100,000 people. Some believe it isn't here. They won't wear masks at Trumps rally. Well, I am not going and if I go out I will wear a mask and gloves. This is no game. Maybe some think it a "game" ...We went through this before..& some won't believe this but we did. Arguments about putting seat belts on were had all over the country.
...When laws were past and they were made mandatory, and lives were saved because of them, then people believed and word got around. Yes, people told others that the ..."seat belt saved my life."

Most of us believe in masks, but many don't. So many will pay the price just like the non seat belt people did. Maybe another 50,000 deaths will convince some or more. Most of us here don't need to be convinced. I stay home and I hate it. I go to the store, I wear mask and gloves..& stay away from others. It ain't a game. This is life and death. Do you know a lot of people who do not put seat belts on? I don't know anyone who does not
wear one. Masks will be the same. But we will see. I could be wrong, and I am not afraid to admit it.
