It is delightful watching things fall into place for the humiliation that is coming.

(14,951 posts)Ive learned tons from you over the decades now, from before Amb. Wilson and Valerie Plame to Chief Waterman, Hurricane, and the Good Fight. After a hiatus re Demented Donnie, I gave up trying to remember my password. Once I yapped about the BFEE in Dallas and Reinhard Gehlens friends in Capitalisms Invisible Army. Now we face the existential threat from within, The Thing and Barr.

I heard the same from some of my legaleagle peeps too. It was hard to hold on to hope that it would be so. Not sure what other gains can be made right now, though.

(14,565 posts)History has meant squat. We've got a puppeted and manipulated justice system that has become a pawn to a dictator. We had a Senate trial with no witnesses.
There are some favorable polls due to Trump imploding. And a couple of Supreme Court rulings that weren't particularly surprising.
I guess that's it. We're supposed to ignore all the atrocities and a system that has essentially been exposed for all its weaknesses.

(12,875 posts)But I won't feel relieved until I see the fetid debris of Trumpism swept from our shores like a bad tide, and replaced with the cool reason and calm waters epitomized by our H2O Man.

(73,593 posts)I'm just getting access to use of my telephone and internet, after only having four hours over the last nine days. It's so nice to see such a kind message. I think that there are a couple other hiighly respected DU contributors who have said the same thing about the judicial branch. Yet it remains essential that we evict the sociopath in November, because he continues to do severe damage to the institutions of this country .....and I'm not suggesting these were perfect before Trump, but getting rid of him is the first of many steps to improve them. And that will not be possible should he "win" a second term.
I contacted a friend about Trump's niece's book today. This person is far, far more familiar with the book and related issues than I, and so I spent most of my time listening. Briefly, he said that we can count on Trump becoming more unhinged between now and November. While that's something we all recognized, he explained it in medical terms ina fascinating way. (I shall attempt an essay on this soon, though I have a few questions I need to ask him.)
