I swear to God, Harlan Ellison, Hunter Thompson and Philip K Dick created 2020 back 50 years ago...

...after, shall we say, certain herbs were ingested to get them in the right zeitgeist frame of mind...and Mr Dick consulted the I Ching for some of the finer details. They then ran it all past Robert A Heinlein, who straightened them out in some of the rough spots. Then they programmed a super-computer, combining the best parts of Hal and Mike Holmes, Heinlein's sentient machine in *Moon is a Harsh Mistress*. And here we all are...

Those who observe and think know there are patterns in human behavior that play out again and again. The stage just changes as we progress in technology and have certain histories behind us. But that VM Smith scene where he laughs for the first time when the big monkey at the zoo takes something from the medium monkey and instead of retaliating he knocks the crap out of the little monkey? Man, that’s as human as it gets.

written "Fear and Loathing in America"

He would have been spot on and humorous as hell and with the media the way it is, he would have

touched donnies' hot buttons and gotten on the plane more than one time.

I can see him eating steak with ketchup on it and tripping on acid while asking whatever questions came to mind.

the "interviewee" would have answered in the same vein..

MAGA is a satire of the deplorables come to life. I swear everyday of this presidency has been stranger than the day before.

Spot on - especially P.K. Dick. I'd love to have heard Hunter Thompson's take, and Ellison would have had some apocalyptic but hilarious end-times scenario about our current disease-state, largely inflamed by Trump.
