Trump lit our country on fire by being, too stupid, too corrupt, too nuts.
Now Trump is trying to put out the fire he lit by being, too stupid, too corrupt, too nuts. When the virus hit, the dam burst upon Trump. He will be swept away.

(1,997 posts)appearances. Mark my words, they will come out with a huge announcement about a successful vaccine in October. Early enough to claim victory, but late enough that large scale administration nightmares and efficacy won't have time to become issues before people vote. It makes no difference to them whether or not the vaccine works or is even ready yet. They will market the hell out if it like some steak, or golf club, or casino. Ah, and just imagine the victory laps and rallies that will follow.

(3,427 posts)Any vaccine that's developed will still be there regardless of who wins the election. So it will still be a matter of who voters want to lead the country for the next four years. Trump was already behind before his bungled pandemic response, just not by as much. I don't think a Covid vaccine will change many people's minds about him.

(3,427 posts)Hell certainly try to take all the credit for any vaccine that gets developed, and will lie about it. I just dont believe that will convince many people to vote for him who otherwise would not. I could be wrong, though.

(10,916 posts)Even if he does get a good vaccine by October, people will think it is just another scam.
And even if the vaccine works spectacularly, who would most people trust to administer it? I guarantee it won't be Trump.

Because all of it is icing on the cake for them.

(10,779 posts)... by simply acting like a decent human being who is smart enough to listen to experts. Instead, his severe personality disorder dictated acting like an obnoxiously self-obsessed, willfully ignorant, compulsively dishonest, delusional grifter who is so unfamiliar with the concept of empathy that he doesn't even understand why he should at least try to fake it. Now, he's bet the farm on the delusion that the pandemic will disappear if he can just get the media to stop talking about it -- neither of which has any chance of happening, which will be abundantly obvious by November. It's really the same sort of delusional thinking that caused all his business failures.

(3,261 posts)He is incapable of saying anything that doesn't create a fire or re-ignite an existing one. Anything that comes out of his mouth makes it worse. Yet, if his advisors manage to get him to shut up, we have the power to frame the entire conversation leading up to November. He and the GOP are trapped.
