It is the middle of September and 'false flags' are about to be raised. The October non-surprise we have all been waiting for?
With Usama Bin Laden dead there's no more videos for Republicans to air before the elections.
There's basically nothing more the Republicans can do to win this election except ask for a little help from their right wing friends abroad.

(52,227 posts)an all-out, american ground invasion of iran would surely do that, but israel isn't going to do more than a targeted strike.
that might cause a very short-term panic in the oil markets, but it will quickly back down.
$200/bbl ain't happening.
besides, if it's portrayed in the media as successfully putting the iranian nuclear program back several years, obama comes out the winner.

(45,319 posts)no offense, but it sounds really America centric and a tad on the anti Obama side. Is your contention that Obama sucks and so a war would make folks rush to Mitters, who would suddenly not look like a raving idiot? I just don't get your thinking. Please give details....

(28,627 posts)Do you remember the workup for Bush. I think other people get it.
Why would this be anti-Obama?

(24,412 posts)It would just look stupid and reckless if Netanyahu does it without any immediate provocation from Iran. Hopefully, such a stunt would mean Netanyahu's days as PM in Israel would be numbered. Keeping Iran at the negotiating table would be a far better course of action both in the short- and long-term IMHO. I realize that the neocons don't see it that way and are ready to pull the trigger yesterday but there is simply no upside to an (unprovoked) attack on Iran that I can see. This isn't just going to be Israel dropping a few bombs and heading home and no repercussions like their attack on Iraq apparently was in the early 1980's. The Israelis are going to have to be ready to dig themselves in for a bunch of attacks and our troops and installations over there are going to have to brace for an higher level of attacks than what we're already seeing over there now. As far as Rmoney, he benefits how? That it proves that Obama didn't have the balls to join Netanyahu in attacking Iran? Then Obama just says, why did we need to do anything right now?

(25,406 posts)It would remind people that we live in a dangerous world and need a leader with international foreign policy experience and a proven track record. And possibly a Nobel Peace Prize.
I don't believe people would suddenly start thinking that it's time to bring in a new guy with no experience and train him up.
And nobody would be stupid enough to blame Obama for rising oil prices in this kind of scenario.

(7,932 posts)would he really be that stupid? Iran is just looking for a reason to attempt to destroy Israel and an attack would give them that reason. I don't know if Iran could destroy Israel in war without nuclear weapons but no matter what the war would go on for years and the death toll would be horrendous on both sides.

(25,247 posts)it would change the life of the everyday Israeli's and effect everything they do. Life in Israel would be made unbearable. I really don't think the rank and file Israeli wants that to happen.

(80,708 posts)If I remember, the 2006 vintage was meaty, perhaps a bit overbearing, particularly with the nutty hint of impending naval nuclear nonsense.
2005 was weak, and 2007 was just a pale imitation.
The 2004, however, was a classic.
