I know that FoxNews and OAN will be covering it, but it would be nice if MSNBC and CNN doesnt give his campaign free advertisement...wishful thinking though...

(4,522 posts)Drove by yesterday evening, some idiot yelling at a group of people across the street to go back to their own country. You KNOW that bastard was armed. For those of you who don't know Tulsa - this venue is in the area of all of our shelters for the homeless, halfway houses, the county jail, ect...In other words, the MAGAts will have a steady supply of targetes walking passed them all day. This is not going to end well for Tulsa.

(2,009 posts)or broadcast it live in its entirety?
I think they have a duty to cover it, because it's likely to generate some actual news. But not two hours of free airtime showing the Fanta Menace smirking while the mouth-breathers chant "lock them up" or "all lives matter" or "give me a haircut or give me death" or whatever the heck they're parroting these days.

(2,009 posts)I guess I knew that "cover it" for some reason seems to mean "slavishly give free live air time". But I don't concede that it should be the case that they have to do that to cover it. They can attend and report on anything newsworthy that he does. No reason to treat it like it's the State of the Union or something otherwise important.
I guess we're running into one of the fallacies of the 24-hour news cycle. "If we've got video we must air it live." Trump has played on this and four years later they still haven't learned the lesson.

(4,522 posts)2 problems with this. #1 Of the stores listed only ONE is downtown. They are closing stores near hospitals and universities also. #2 There is only ONE downtown to serve the great majority of the Tulsa homeless. This time of year when temps are above 90 and about to hit 100, when the last 2 days we have had medical heat and air advisories, when the library is closed, these people will have their access to water cut to almost nothing.

(4,522 posts)There isn't a convenience store open within a file mile radius, the NG is on their way, windows are being boarded up downtown, our governor is in DC for an emergency meeting, 2 choppers above our neighborhood, I think every cop in OK is between me and the BOK and they are closing streets. But yeah...just a peaceful little rally.
