(2,517 posts)He's lucky they are on the mend and at a human level I am pleased for him.
The policies that he and SC are championing will only get more people sick as the 'Trump Flu' spreads unabated in the South.
Interesting times....

(82,849 posts)I hope he doesn't die. I hope his kid doesn't suffer permanent injury. I hope his wife didn't pass it on to vulnerable friends and relatives because she didn't know she was contagious.
But I hope the white Mr. Rice gets a clue-by-four upside his empty head.

(9,967 posts)... he and his family are doing well. However, that statement is very poor, considering he is an elected official and speaks for others dealing with - or soon to deal with - the Coronavirus.

(1,671 posts)brother-in-law was one of the first deaths in his county at the end of March. He was in his early 60s, health issues were high blood pressure and using a c-pap machine at bedtime. Was still running his own business.
He wasn't feeling well on a Friday so called his doctor. Since he had no fever and no shortness of breath, he was told to take Advil. By Saturday night, he had trouble getting out of his chair and my friend's sister/his wife had to help him. He made it up the stairs on his own to go to bed. His wife heard weird sounds and went up to check on him. He was having trouble getting his c-pap mask on and not breathing right. The doctor was called again and his wife was told not to sleep in the same room with him. She was not going to leave his side so she set up a futon in their bedroom. She became frantic when she didn't hear him breathing. Paramedics came and revived him and they went to the ER. His wife was required to confirm his identity since he arrived in pjs and had no ID on him. She looked through the thick plastic curtains, IDed him and was escorted away. That's the last time she saw him. He was taken off life support (i.e., ventilator) the following Monday and died.
His initial symptoms were diarrhea and body aches. His wife tested positive, but never had any symptoms.
