We better brace ourselves for a whole lotta ugly comin' at us from a neverending parade of stupid.

..to parapharase the script from Hairspray(2007).

You might have seen this article about how the Rmoney campaign is a total trainwreck:

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0912/81280.html?hp=t1

You might have seen the latest RCP No-Toss-Ups map showing the race at 332 Obama to 206 Rmoney

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2012/president/2012_elections_electoral_college_map_no_toss_ups.html

My message is this: @ 50 days out from election day, this is nice, but ultimately a bunch of meaningless crap. The only Rmoney post-mortem I'll enjoy reading is one published on or after November 7th. Joe Rickets, Sheldon Adelson, and The Kochs haven't poured the millions of dollars into pro-GOP superpacs just to give up now.

Expect to see nasty campaigning in the next 7 weeks. No holds will be barred, and our opponents won't let the truth get in the way of a good story.

Expect the MSM to play up any Rmoney gain in the polls - no matter how small - as "the road to a comeback" and "a campaign left for dead now very much alive." There's money to be made for the MSM by keeping this thing seeming close.

Expect a shakeup at the Rmoney campaign this week -- possibly tomorrow. Firing Stuart Stevens would "send the wrong signal" -- but don't be shocked if the banksters demand that Karl Rove and Ken Mehlman be brought in as "top-level consultants" (read: provide adult supervision).

Expect the debates to become an exercise in verbal bomb throwing. Expect Rmoney and LyinRyan to engage in demagougery not seen since the McCarthy era.

They've had a crappy summer, and that's good news for us, but nobody can be complacent. Democrats need to stay focused and positive. We need to continue to volunteer, send money, and we especially need to register to vote (if we have not done so already), make sure your registration information is current and correct (if you have not done so already), register a friend or two if you can, and VOTE!

Greens, P & F, Occupy, and progressive independents -- all we can do is make our case that the real choice is re-electing Barack Obama, or helping to elect Williard Rmoney (meaning a return to the failed policies of the last decade, most probably war in Iran, and Bader-Ginsburg and possibly Breyer being replaced with Sam Alito clones). I realize we don't always see eye to eye on very issue, but we could use your help.

Counting unhatched eggs is a recipe for disaster. Omelettes will only be served up from Nov. 7th.

GET OUT THE VOTE!!!

P.S. Shout out from a former Nebraskan--born and bred with RW family still there. Will Omaha go for Obama/Biden this time like in 2008?

There is a finite number of spots available.

Granted that number may be rather large, but it is still finite.

After a while, the messaging in the media reaches a point of diminishing returns, an overload of messaging that will turn some voters off and may actually cause some to move away from a candidate that they view as too shallow or too negative.

At the end of the day, it is going to be the people in neighborhoods convincing their neighbors to vote for their candidate

I believe that the Obama team has the best message and the better ground forces in the swing states. Especially if you compare th Obama campaign with the McCain campaign.

Remember this as well, McCain was liked by the voters. He has a special place on the national scene and is viewed as a "moderate" when it comes to Republicans.

Romney is the rich know it all who every body would like to be far away from. He is far from being likable and runs th risk of coming off as a bully.

So, I am pretty cautiously confident that we will prevail. Now if only we can take better control of the Senate and continue to show real leadership in that august chamber and take down some of th loud mouth newbies in the House we might be able start turning the economy around and let Obama get on with his agenda...

As is our right, given that they were able to give us a more smug, more clueless, and more annoying GWB. Quite the accomplishment and we will beat them soundly.

Mon Sep 17, 2012, 03:36 AM
Sep 2012

For Example:

Congressman Ryan, you lied.
Congressman Ryan, you are lying.
Congressman Ryan, liar, liar, your pants are on fire.

You lie!
You lied!
Your mouth is moving, therefore, you are lying.

Romney, you are lying.
Romney, when you said _________, you were lying.

I don't want to hear that a factual error was made, that the person may have gotten their facts wrong or have gotten the wrong facts. In fact, as pretty as the word is, I don't want to hear a single Democrat accusing a single Republican of dissembling. Use the fuckingly useful small word with big implications - LIE.

they have thrown everythng INCLUDING the kitchen sink and it hasn't worked

these asswipes would destroy America an not care a hoot.

But it's like Custer's last stand. Bound to lose and be relegated to the has been pile, never to be near victory again.

Just think how much fun we will have and how great America will be when the republicanteapartylibertarians are never again a force in political office once we win now, and we make sure Hillary wins in 2016 and 2020.

when the other side only tries to get angry white males, well, even when times are bad, America doesn't like snarling, gnarling, foaming at the mouth hatred and angry.
The crap is being swept out like the trash it is.

51 days and counting.

And I love seeing all those commercials with Bill Clinton in them. He done well this time, realizing together=power, division=losing.
If only the democrats had realized that in 1968 and 1980, it is quite possible republicans would never have become president at all since 1960.

on media that gets to the already convinced one way or another. Of course to these guys, losing millions on a lost cause is like normal people buying a lottery ticket.
We all have good reasons to ensure the Romney/Ryan jihad never gets close to power. They would foment war abroad and civil unrest at home, expanding the prison industrial complex. Their policies will give the working class a choice: join the military and commit crimes for the military industrial complex or commit crime on the street and contribute to the prison system. Our only hope from going totally down the crapper is to reelect President Obama and an overwhelming victory in Congress that allows for real debate and real solutions by legislators.
As it stands, a rabid minority can stifle the will, of the vast majority, and that's the flaw in our system.
It is therefore incumbent on America's normal people to storm the polls on election day and reelect the President and a Congress that will work for the peoples' behalf and limit the influence of the robber barons like Romney and Ryan and the corporate outsourcers.

They're not going to suddenly become some brilliant campaign in the last 50 days. There won't be a huge shakeup at this point. They're incompetent, but more important is that they don't even realize it: hence the doubling down on all things stupid that Romney has said or done. If there was going to be a shakeup or a major change, it would have happened months ago.

But I agree: never get complacent.

Look,it is great that we are confident now, love it, but we know the enemy loves below the belt shots. This is not the time to ease up, this is the time to keep hammering them in the face until they cannot get up.
