Court OKs Barring High IQs for Cops
A man whose bid to become a police officer was rejected after he scored too high on an intelligence test has lost an appeal in his federal lawsuit against the city....

(16,296 posts)At a Sony TV plant in Pennsylvania and both of us were turned down because we scored too high and had advanced degrees. Seems they felt we would both be either troublemakers or not "fit in" with the rest of the work force.

(296 posts)Let's go harass some black woman on her way to church. Who's game? It matched a vehicle they were looking for...GRAY!
Let me fix that.....It matched a vehicle with A BLACK PERSON IN IT!

(16,858 posts)Even if you get pulled over for running a stop sign, they'll have three cars show up while he's writing you a ticket. They should travel in pairs in those squad cars so they can handle it if the person turns out to be wanted for something and requires arrest. But around here, each cop drives his own car. I guess they want to spread them out but aren't they ignoring their area when they all show up for a routine traffic stop? I don't get it.

(7,412 posts)Mine posts the jail booking report with mugshots the following day, would be curious to see what she was being arrested for (if she was being taken into custody). Could be something as simple as a warrant for unpaid tickets or driving on a suspended license, that's pretty common in my county. Still requires a pat down before being taken into custody and if they brought in a female officer to perform it on a female suspect that's good policy.

(16,188 posts)that gets pulled over for a traffic infraction? Seems like a large waste of manpower and another question. When did the police begin using black cars and vehicles everywhere. Is it an intimidation tactic or do they get a deal on the paint scheme?
madville
(7,412 posts)This was 20 years ago but as I remember, black or white were the standard base colors. Everything else was a special order or an extra charge, like specific two-tone paint schemes or if they wanted dark blue cars, silver, etc.

I was always amazed that just about everyone stopped by the police for one reason or another, it was a black or hispanic driver.
