Skincare CEO Calls Police on Man of Color for Stenciling 'Black Lives Matter' on His Own Home

Skincare CEO ‘Karen’ Calls Police on Man of Color for Stenciling ‘Black Lives Matter’ on His Own Home

A San Francisco “Karen” was filmed calling the police on a man of color after she saw him stenciling “Black Lives Matter” on a neighborhood wall. Turns out that wall was part of the man’s own home.

Wrote Jaimetoons on Twitter: “A white couple call the police on me, a person of color, for stencilling a #BLM chalk message on my own front retaining wall. ‘Karen’ lies and says she knows that I don’t live in my own house, because she knows the person who lives here. #blacklivesmatter”

In the video shared by Jaimetoons, the “Karen,” who was later identified as Lisa C. Alexander, the founder and CEO of Laface Skincare, and another man are seen questioning Jaimetoons about whether it’s his property, telling him that he’s free to express his opinion but that he can’t do what he’s doing.

“It’s private property,” insisted Alexander.

“But if I did live here and this was my property this would be absolutely fine,” Jaimetoons responded. “And you don’t know if I live here or if this is my property.”

“We actually do know,” Alexander snapped back. “We know the person who does.”

I thought that was SF.

Much of The City has a particular 'look'.

Plus the PG&E cover in the sidewalk was a bit of a hint.

From watching it I feel like they actually believe that they DO know that it's not his house, even though they clearly don't know that.

Also, it's clear that Karen is very aware that it 'looks bad' what she's doing ... and is acting quite polite as a result ... but she can't help herself.

It's all really trippy to me.

Not even San Francisco is immune to this crap.

Come to think of it, it's not as liberal as people think it is there overall.

Said “can I help you?” and something about “recent break ins in the neighborhood” This despite me being in my late 50s driving a Prius. That is to say, I don’t think is even fit the racist stereotype of a burglar except for my skin color of course. I told him to fuck off and gave him holy hell. They have to knowingly file a false report. Reporting suspicious activity is not going to be considered a crime even if the caller is wrong.

If a subject is painting graffiti on a wall and someone calls the cops because they think it's vandalism but it's actually the painter's wall, that's not a false report if the caller doesn't know if it's legit or not. Being wrong does not equal filing a false report.

She assumed that he was vandalizing private property, and she even assumed that he didn't know any better. She spoke to him as if he were a child. Turns out she didn't. She lied. That became clear to me later with follow up investigation.

50. It was his house and she flat out lied about knowing whose house it was

I'm not outraged, I'm amused. And I'm only given the luxury to be amused in this case, because we are seeing this video rather than a video of the cops harassing him, or hurting him or killing him.

But I'm also angry, because this is racism on display, and racism makes me angry. She thought she was right, and she lied, because she was so confident she was right. And the only way she could honestly think she was right is if she was a racist. He wasn't behaving badly. He wasn't breaking a law. But there was no way, in her mind, that that man could own that property and legally do that.

Do you think if a blonde, white child was writing #BLM with chalk she would have reacted the same way? Would she have thought it was cute?

This is how white people who don't think they are racist are, sometimes, actually racist. Women who would do this, or who would watch this and think she was being polite or respectful. And this is why all white people need to check themselves and work harder.

57. Would you call the cops when you don't know who lives there?
Sat Jun 13, 2020, 07:04 PM
Jun 2020

That's the question. How would you know that the "graffiti" artist was the owner? By his "looks?"

Lisa Alexander apparently didn't know who lived there, but saw "graffiti" and jumped to conclusions.

I'm all for "see something, say something" but if that something is merely the man's skin color, you got no business policing other people based on their looks. You could be wrong. And that black guy could be dead.

That's the reason why people are outraged.

so, yes, I'm going to have to agree that she lied, jumped to conclusions, probably on an expectation of who would be living there.

That's not acceptable.

I do agree with her when she says "Being a good neighbor is important where everyone takes care of each other. ”

Still not outraged.

To be clear, are you saying you're okay with putting black peoples' lives at risk because "that's what good neighbors do?"

Really? No outrage?

Wow. That's privilege right there.

He ENCOURAGED HER TO DO IT. Twice, in fact.

I'm not saying that he was under any obligation to tell her, but this would have been no situation at all if he had told her from the start that he was the property owner. Instead, he wanted to make a point. He made it. It's a good one.

She made a racist presumption about ownership and that's bad, very bad. That part is loathsome. He demonstrated that. Bravo. But, no, I'm still not outraged that she called the police. I'll repeat... he wanted her to.

Juanillo said he knows many of the police officers in the neighborhood and that they didn’t even get out of their car when checking out the call shortly after the video was taken.

Calling the cops over freakin' chalk is ridiculous. You and I both know she wouldn't have done the same to a bunch of white kids writing cheerful messages to their mail and delivery persons.

Sun Jun 14, 2020, 01:19 PM
Jun 2020

is the reason for the outrage. Based on human patterns of behavior if he was defacing property the response would have been different. She should have recognized that right away. For example 'if you catch someone in the act of doing anything they should not be doing, 99% of the time they are going to take off." Or perhaps start to argue loudly. NOT calmly almost on the verge of laughter respond to your query.
