What do y'all think of this?

I got into a comment war with people on Facebook about this. For some reason, last week I started seeing a bunch of ads for clothing that looks like an American flag. Here is one such example:

[link:https://ebestce.com/products/copy-of-american-flag-overalls-shorts-skirt?variant=34510439153827¤cy=USD&utm_medium=product_sync&utm_source=google&utm_content=sag_organic&utm_campaign=sag_organic&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term=08856&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIwOrUg7n_6QIVFGKGCh02wADyEAQYBCABEgJhh_D_BwE|

I commented that I think that kind of clothing is disrespectful to the flag. Whew, you would have thought I was out shooting grandmas left and right! They told me that it wasn’t a flag - it’s the “image” of the flag, and by gum it’s all right to wear.

Now that I think of it, it’s probably your standard Confederate-flag waving gun nut who would want to wear clothes like that.

1. I've Never Found It Particularly Offensive To Wear Clothing With A Flag

I guess some feel it's disrespectful to wear something that resembles the Flag, but it doesn't bother me. I don't view it as a desecration.

was frowned on during the Vietnam Era protests.
I remember my dad ripping a flag off my older sisters pants and refusing to let her leave the house showing such disrespect for the flag.

Is the Flag Code a law? I don’t think you can be arrested for violating it.

Anyway, those folks were saying the clothing ISN’T a flag, per se. it’s a representation of the flag, so the flag code doesn’t apply.

And there's plenty of stuff in that code saying you shouldn't fool around with images of the flag. Clothing is specifically mentioned several times.

I have no intention of reading the whole code, but what I have read basically says treat it with the respect you would have for the Queen if we had a Queen.

I do suspect that if a felonious Republican operative uses it as a jock strap with no complaints, everything's cool.
