and Rhiannon12866 posted the video

(thank you, Rhiannon12866, again, for the valuable service you provide here).
Radley Balko in 2013 wrote the book: Rise of the Warrior Cop: The Militarization of Americas Police Forces and it was discussed at length on these pages

When I read the review of this book, in the WSJ, yes, what caught my eye was this paragraph:
"This development coincides with the rhetorical use of the word "war." To the police, civilians are citizens to protect. To the military, we are a population to be subdued. Wars can temporarily override the Constitution. When the Justice Department walks into Congress with requests for money and new laws to fight a war, it is going to get a different response than if it came in with a story about fighting crime."
Balko did talk about the "no knock" event in Berwyn Height, MD when the mayor's home was raided, the SWAT team shot two dogs and terrorized the mother in law.
In August 2010, Sheriff Michael A. Jackson stated that "We've apologized for the incident, but we will never apologize for taking drugs off our streets. Quite frankly, we'd do it again. Tonight."
