FLIPPABLE: Jason Hayes for GA-HD49

Jason Hayes was born in Willingboro, New Jersey to a family of southern roots. His father, a Navy veteran, and mother, a nurse, are both from Opelousas, Louisiana. Jason, who is the youngest, has an older sister and brother. After several years in New Jersey, the Hayes family returned to Louisiana in 1980.

While growing up in Opelousas, Jason took pride in his academic achievements. Yet, he always wanted to improve the quality of life of others. This altruistic desire was fueled by family members who suffered from medical complications. As a result, Jason, at the age of 13, set his sights on becoming a physician.

Jason continued to perform well academically in middle and high school. As a rising senior, he participated in American Legion’s Louisiana Boys State. At this program, Jason learned about local and state government. Also, he was elected by his peers as a state representative. With his new appreciation for government, Jason returned for his senior year. He graduated in May 1995 at Opelousas High with high honors. Furthermore, Jason earned a full academic scholarship to Xavier University of Louisiana in New Orleans.

In August 1995, Jason began his studies at the historic Xavier University of Louisiana. While gaining a valuable education, he participated in school community service programs. These experiences taught Jason the positive impact volunteering has on people. After completing his studies, Jason Hayes graduated in May 1999 cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry.

Then, Jason began his medical and public health studies in August 1999 at Meharry Medical College in Nashville. At this institution, he continued to perform well academically. For his efforts, Jason was elected into Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society in May 2003. During his senior year, he interned under the Honorable Jim Cooper of Tennessee’s 5 th Congressional District. This internship taught Jason the value of service and representation for constituents. Finally, Jason graduated in May 2004 with his Doctor of Medicine and Master of Science in Public Health degrees with high honors.

In June 2004, resident Dr. Hayes continued his medical training in General Internal Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. At this institution, he continued to hone his skills as a training physician. Furthermore, resident Dr. Hayes continued to provide quality care to patients in the Texas Medical Center. For his efforts, he was bestowed with the Texas Primary Care Resident Award in 2006. After completing his training program in June 2007, Dr. Hayes obtained his Board Certification in Internal Medicine.

In September 2007, Dr. Hayes began his service commitment with the National Health Service Corp (NHSC). He graciously accepted the call to provide quality healthcare to underserved patient populations in West and Middle Tennessee. During his service commitment, Dr. Hayes was active with the Tennessee Chapter of the American College of Physicians (ACP). He served as West and Middle Tennessee Young Physician Representative, Washington D.C. Leadership Day Patient Advocate, Chair for the Chapter’s 2010 Scientific Meeting and Executive Member of the Chapter’s Board. Also, Dr. Hayes served as Sub-Committee Chairman for Tennessee’s Adult Oral Health Emergency Care Consortium. For his efforts as a young emerging leader, he was selected as Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP). This designation, FACP, is one of distinction and leadership in the field of Internal Medicine. Finally, Dr. Hayes, in 2011, completed his NHSC service commitment. Then, he embarked on a journey as a corporate health and locum physician.

Dr. Hayes relocated to Alpharetta in 2015 to practice Internal Medicine. During this time, Dr. Hayes learned the importance of business in healthcare. As a result, he decided to enroll, in the spring of 2016, at the Physician Executive MBA Program at Tennessee’s Haslam College of Business in Knoxville. At this institution, Dr. Hayes developed a multitude of business skills from the fields of economics, finance, accounting, marketing and organizational leadership etc. Then, he graduated with the Physician Executive MBA in the fall of 2016. With this vital education, Dr. Hayes opened his own medical practice in the city of Alpharetta.

Since 2015, Jason has been proud to call Alpharetta home. As a fixture in the community for the past 5 years, he welcomes the opportunity to push Georgia forward. Jason Hayes is the right candidate to become your next Georgia House District 49 Representative.
