One of the Most Charitable Acts I Know Is the Effort by South Carolinians to Remove Lindsey Graham
Quiet euthanasia of someone’s political career sometimes is an act of love.

BY CHARLES P. PIERCE
JUN 12, 2020

Nobody is more deeply dedicated to the basic Republican principle of Ni shagu nazad than is Lindsey Graham, Republican of South Carolina. Confronted with a pandemic, and an overwhelming demand for change in how the country polices itself, and what is possibly the most profound confrontation with this country’s systemic racism since the 1960’s, Graham, who chairs the Senate Judiciary Committee, knows what the most important issue facing the country is. From the Washington Post:

Chairman Lindsey O. Graham (R-S.C.) signaled he is focused on multiple aspects of the federal investigation, which began in summer 2016 as an FBI counterintelligence probe deemed “Crossfire Hurricane” and continued into the early months of Trump’s presidency. Among them: The Justice Department’s reliance on a dossier compiled by a former British intelligence agent in seeking secret surveillance warrants and whether officials ignored red flags in continuing those warrants. “Anybody that was told about the unreliability of the dossier and continued to use it, they’re good candidates to go to jail or lose their job,” Graham said, adding: “Somebody needs to be held accountable for what happened here, and we’re going to be in the accountability business.”

Oh, come on, Huckleberry.

But Democrats launched a broader attack on the political implications of Graham’s probe. The subpoena targets dozens of officials, including several political appointees of former president Barack Obama — such as his attorney general, Loretta E. Lynch; his deputy attorney general, Sally Yates; his FBI director, James B. Comey; and his chief of staff, Denis McDonough. Those subpoenas, they said, would do little more than offer fodder to Trump allies in the hothouse of his reelection campaign, while ignoring ample evidence of suspicious activity justifying the federal scrutiny that occurred.

Who are the dogs and who are the ponies? We may never know. But one thing I do know—the Republicans on that committee don’t want any part of Sally Yates.

One of the most charitable acts I know is the effort by good people of South Carolina to remove Graham from public life for his own good, before he truckles himself into a mere vapor trail of a human being. Democratic candidate Jaime Harrison is making a strong run at him, and my pal Jimmy Williams, to whom I am very indebted for his having introduced me to chicken bog during the Before Times last fall, has a PAC that’s running some strong commercials against Graham. I consider these profound acts of charity on behalf not only of the nation, but also of Graham. Quiet euthanasia of someone’s political career sometimes is an act of love.

Ginning up a Deep-State scandal for Trump during the campaign, when Graham knows full well that Trump is guilty of what he was Impeached for, is reprehensible and infuriating.

This shit isn't funny anymore.

that subpoenas are to be ignored. Who among THEM ever showed up for a hearing? All little Lindsey has to do is read the Mueller report, all the evidence is in there. That cost taxpayers enough, why waste more time and $$$? I for one would rather hear from the Rent Boys who gossip about Graham, than anyone else. This will turn into another Benghazi, Benghazi, Benghazi. But, hey, Lindsey is like his big orange daddy and loves seeing himself on T.V.
