(13,110 posts)It was discussed for 24 hours straight.
Alisyn Camerota was acting terrified discussing it yesterday morning.
I switched between MSNBC and CNN all day and most of the night.
Every single anchor was discussing it and acting as if overnight all police would disappear.
Again this morning they were discussing it.

(11,156 posts)a nuanced issue and we seem to have difficulty explaining nuance to the masses that can only understand bumper sticker slogans. Pukes dont do nuance. They know the limited cognitive abilities of their base. Now itll be Dems want to do away with the police. Be afraid.

(95,255 posts)It chants well, requires no explanation, and is awful hard to distort.
It accurately reflects the sentiments of the great bulk of the protesters in the streets, and of the mass who support them nationwide.

(8,597 posts)I'm going to go with variations of this kind of comment:
"That's a terrible way of saying that we need to stop making cops be social workers and psychiatrists. They've been begging us to stop making them do these kinds of things and more for a long time. And we need to reorganize how we hire and train cops, and how we conduct oversight of them."
There are ways to redirect this, and varieties of argument luckily, because it can be tailored to the audience of the moment. Whoever came up with the idea of using the word defund (or dismantle for that matter) should be on a timeout. It is not inaccurate and I understand the usage, but it just plays so badly, and right into the old saw Repugs like to use about Dems being soft on crime. I am not surprised that they've run with it, it was too obvious for them to miss. I'm kinda annoyed that it got this far without someone going "hey guys..."; we're smarter than that, we should have caught that it might be problematic.
