BUFFALOA video of police officers shoving an elderly police activist to the ground, then walking by him as a pool of blood collected around his head, shocked the nation.
Their colleagues? Not so much.
All members of the Buffalo Police Department Emergency Response Team resigned from the unit on Friday in support of the officers who were suspended without pay for their aggression toward Martin Gugino, 75, after curfew the night before.
Fifty-seven resigned in disgust because of the treatment of two of their members, who were simply executing orders, Buffalo Police Benevolent Association President John Evans told local station WGRZ. The officers remain on the police force but are no longer on that team.

(2,280 posts)That department is apparently rotten to the core.
Anyone want to bet whether at least half of them have excessive force complaints?

(9,998 posts)Sometimes it's EXACTLY like everyone views it to be, and this is one of those times.
People already see them for what they are. A unit, willing to LIE, COVER UP and commit crimes at will, just because they can.

(92 posts)To those cops who quit, I say dont let the door hit ya, where the Good Lord split ya.
And if they were just following orders, why did they put out a phony statement saying that long-time activist Martin Gugino was injured during a skirmish involving protestors, one person was injured when he tripped & fell.
They knew they fucked up and are trying to cover their collective asses just like cops have done everywhere, except they get caught.
