I lived in the Flathead for ten years and wouldn’t describe Whitefish as the “Armpit” of Montana. Over the last 20 years or so white supremacists have been trying to get a foothold in the Flathead. Although they get a lot of attention there aren’t very many of them. Most of the folks who live there don’t want to be associated with them. Many, like in the video that was posted, turn out to actively resist them.

But there are plenty of home grown wack job militia members in Montana. A friend of mine used to spend weekends in Thompson Falls with his wife’s family. He always joked that he knew when it was payday cuz all the local gun humpers were out in the woods practicing with their automatic weapons.

Whitefish city prosecutors charged Jay Snowden, 51, with disorderly conduct Thursday morning after they met with police.

As of Thursday afternoon the video has been shared more than 4,000 times and viewed hundreds of thousands of times.

We pulled down the audio because it’s filled with profanity. It shows a man getting in the faces of several protesters outside the Whitefish City Hall.

He uses several expletives, knocks signs out of protesters’ hands and yells at an apparent clergyman before police take him away. The crowd around him chants “peaceful!” continuously throughout the nearly 3-minute video.

6. Effective countertactic

The demonstrators clearly had a little training and conversation before hitting the streets, declining to engage in a physical altercation with someone who was just itching to start a fight. It's nice how the cop, after this had been going on for at least two minutes, finally sauntered over to gently escort the fellow away. It's a good thing he wasn't a 75-year-old man who got in the cops' way on a sidewalk. He might have tripped and fallen.
