"SNIP.....
Senate Democratic Leader Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) warned that the jobs numbers were pumped up by stimulus money, and without more, it will collapse.
.....
Sen. Schumer: Well, it tells us that we still have a very long way to go. Theres a great anomaly here. The president says its stupendous, the president says its a joyous day, when we have almost 20 million people out of work, when the unemployment number went down, but its still much higher and higher than any time during the Great Recession after 2008. And why did this happen? In large part because of the stimulus. Because of the plans that we put together mainly pushed by Democrats to pump trillions of dollars into an economy that was just headed in free-fall. Heres my worry, Stephanie. My worry is that these numbers will make the president, the Republican Senate, complacent. We have lots of cliffs coming up.

(51,460 posts)unemployment and 21 million are currently receiving it. I doubt if one applies for the insurance if they aren't without a job.

(8,580 posts)So yes, there are people like that. I think part of it may be that the states may have had issues with accurate reporting in April due to the sheer numbers applying and the overwhelming of the systems. I was originally shown as a permanent lay off, when I am just on temporary furlough.

(25,981 posts)Here's the thing: your biggest problem in getting more stimulus aid passed isn't just 'the Republican Senate' - it's Mitch McConnell. You might want to mention that next time.
Every time.
