'Police just went nuts': Charges dropped after video surfaces of police beating student, protesters

THIS VIDEO IS INSANE...THERE ARE MORE COPS THAN STUDENTS, AND THE COPS LOOK LIKE THEY'RE ALL ROID RAGIN'.

?s=19

A Temple University student arrested during protests Monday was released from custody Wednesday after video surfaced of one police officer striking him in the head with a baton and another using his knee to pin the student’s face to the street.

Eight seconds into the 36-second video, Gorski — with a ponytail and wearing the Eagles jersey — appears to reach in to separate an officer and a protester, and immediately retreats when another officer raises his baton.

That officer then strikes Gorski sharply on or near his head and tackles him, while another officer presses Gorski’s face to the pavement by placing his knee on the back of his head and neck. Madden said Gorski required medical treatment.

Police sources say that the baton-wielding officer is a high-ranking member of the force, Staff Inspector Joseph Bologna. He earns $126,339 a year, according to city payroll records. The sources said Bologna was taken off street duty Thursday evening after this article was published.

They named a sandwich after him, in fact, but it's not very popular.

The Joe Bologna, Feces and Phlegm special, sprinkled generously with black mold, a dash of anthrax and slathered in gonorrhea pus sauce. It didn't really catch on though.

The police are scared and angry too..they have been out all night for over a week, I bet some are using stimulants so yeah I bet they are NOT in their right minds AND are probably prone to violence to begin with...

I worry for the protestors AND the journalists...

and allowed people to protest in the beginning, we wouldn't be here. If they charged the cops who murdered George Floyd on tv, we wouldn't be here. It's gotten so massive because of the police brutality, during the protests about police brutality. All those videos from all over the country. Anyone who ever had any doubts about the institutional brutality of the police across this country, can no longer. Those images are increasing the outrage, and rightly so. I can not imagine being young today, or having children, or being black.

I agree...

My 18 year old daughter is quite a little activist and she and her friends dragged me out with them a couple nights ago (I wrote a post about it too) First time standing up for me, very moving vigil and protest, peaceful... for now

Our local newspaper did a story about the police being on our side in these nightly vigils, but they are a small racist group and it won't take much to get them to turn on us. I worry.

‘Police just went nuts’: Charges dropped after video surfaces of police beating student, other protesters with batons

(snips)

A Temple University student arrested during protests Monday was released from custody Wednesday after video surfaced of one police officer striking him in the head with a baton and another using his knee to pin the student’s face to the street.

Prosecutors dismissed the charges against Evan Gorski, 21, an engineering student, after viewing the YouTube and Twitter videos, according to his attorney, R. Emmett Madden.
+++
Inspector Sekou Kinebrew, a Philadelphia police spokesperson, declined to comment Thursday on the circumstances of Gorski’s arrest, but said the incident is being investigated by the department’s Internal Affairs Division. “The propriety of the tactics employed will be included in that investigation,” Kinebrew said.

So the injured protester was a guy, not a gal. Regardless, there's no excuse for using brutal responses on unarmed citizens that have no malicious intent.

By the way, that tweet was not from Morgan Freeman the actor. Bio from his twitter page:

And Mr. Gorski sue him in civilian court. He's rich and can make you rich as well!

With that money he probably seldom gets to use a baton. Bless his overeager, too-frustrated heart.
