Attended a local peaceful protest in our town earlier

SO and I made a sign and decided to go.

At least 200 people, mostly young people, were there - that is huge for our small red county. It was organized by students some of whom spoke movingly about the issues and their pain. We stood in silence for 8 min, 46 sec, then marched around the courthouse.

Maybe a dozen counterprotesters - a sorry bunch who yelled "All Lives Matter" and something something looters. A solid police presence, at the request of the organizers.

They also had voter registration tables and were really pushing that.

Most people were wearing masks, although social distancing wasn't happening.

All in all, an uplifting experience.

We just chanted louder. The police presence helped, too. These racist fools have been in control of this county for a very long time (still are, for that matter), but things are changing.
