If there is a revision of those figures downward, will he claim credit for that also?

(15,823 posts)And every week after as unemployment goes down. At least the dnc should expect it and counter it.

(92,219 posts)statistic runs counter to this
Ask those restaurants and those closed businesses how things are going, or the millions who are out of jobs
I suspect the republicans will use this as an excuse to prevent Congress from passing more stimulus to the states

(15,823 posts)I cant see repugs working with the house anymore. Plus in two weeks the coronavirus will be the main news again due to heavy outbreaks all over the place. We are in a mess for a few years at least.

(32,006 posts)should counter those numbers with the increasing death rates from Covid-19 since states re-opened their economies.

(34,857 posts)We all knew the economy would surge back once things reopened. Well we should have known. I'm not really sure why everyone was treating this like a normal recession where these jobs are gone for good. A vast majority of these jobs were just temporarily gone.

(4,845 posts)That's why I cringed a little every time I hear the argument that Trump lost 40 millions jobs. It's not entirely his fault (while his refusal to treat coronavirus seriously has made it way worst than it should have) and that the jobs will be back. My guess would be at least half to 75% of the jobs coming back.

(10,024 posts)These are not new jobs created by Trump or Ivanka.
As businesses reopen with restrictions (social distancing, curbside/outdoor service, etc.), furloughed workers will be called back as number of clients/customers seeking services warrant.
I work part time retail, only three including manager are back to provide new curbside service only of our store (24 employees total, all others still furloughed) at reduced service hours.

(92,219 posts)today does not mean the economy has "recovered"
At best it means that things have bottomed out. In spite of the "stock market" enthusiasm, it is going to take some time for the economy to recover.
The stock market is NOT the economy. A lot of people are unemployed, and having trouble making rent or mortgage. A lot of businesses unfortunately will never recover from this.

(111,103 posts)Even if it the figures are accurate.
He will probably also brag that only 110,000 people have died in the epidemic when "everyone" expected over a million?
There is nothing to brag about.
