Some can be gentle derision, like references here to what Trump eats and what that is doing to him.

Some are vile. They question a person's sexual orientation, truthfulness without justification.

Some are borderline, but when aimed at some people, most likely are ok. An example is questioning the true religious faith of Trump's spirature adviser, or that of Falwell at Liberty University, or Franklin Graham, ect.

Fri Jun 5, 2020, 10:02 AM

Just my thoughts:
The character Pittypat, elderly with a antebellum mindset, was concerned more with social perceptions vs facing a changing world. Her endorsement of behavior was wishy-washy. That was a truth in a fictional story, and that wishy-washyness wrapped in a southern demeanor and gender divisions described LG perfectly. That's not misogynism. I wish I could think of a well known male fictional character with her characteristics to compare Graham to, which I would do, but no one comes to mind.

I'll be more sensitive to these perceptions and comparisons in the future, and I apologize for the aggravation I've caused.

Here in the Carolinas, and not by straight people, but by members of the LGBTQ community. He has mannerisms that I have heard described as "prissy and pissy Miss Lindsey" (by a gay friend) which I would say has a somewhat different meaning than effeminate, which doesn't describe him, IMO. I would agree with the "prissy and pissy" as a description of his personality, but I don't use those kind of terms because I'm not a gay man in the Carolinas, and it's not a good look for an ally of any minority to use slurs in discussions. I don't necessarily fault anyone who does though; and I don't think it's my job to police the language of my gay friends, so they get no grief from me about it. My straight friends would hear a discussion of better terms and phrases to use.

It's not my job to stop you, you can be as judgmental, inflexible and rigid as you choose about whatever you want, and you're making judgments on a lot of people you don't know in this thread. And all without any knowledge of the circumstances or context of those whose responses you condemn. How much glass in that house you're in right now?
