(3,243 posts)but since they are the police it's illegal to defend yourself. I've seen too many videos of police hitting and shoving people who are no threat to them.
They also seem to be using tactics that give the protesters no choice. They cram them together and order them to move. Then when they can't move fast enough they start beating them. It's awful.

(17,167 posts)When the cop on his right hand side moved to bend down towards the victim, the shover grabbed his shirt and pushed him on.
The shover was several metres behind the two cops who first encountered the man; he rushed through the middle of them.

(34,074 posts)The policeman on the man's left (initially holding the baton level at his waist) moved toward the man. The policeman on the man's right (moving side-by-side with the one on the man's left) reached out with his right hand and shoved the man. The one behind (who you describe as rushing through the middle of them) was not involved in the shoving. He appeared to be trying to catch up - perhaps to prevent the incident. He was the one who pulled the officer on the man's left away from helping him after the man was on the ground (and appeared to be calling for assistance).
Since there were so many officers around, it is better for an involved officer not to muddy the waters by helping (and potentially destroying evidence)

(5,641 posts)Why not just dialogue with the guy and see what he wanted to say?
He was not a threat.
