Trumps mental illness forces him repeat this same pattern over and over again.

Trump is 100% obsessed with attacking anything he sees as a threat. He has no control over this obsession. It is literally his way of life. For three years he attacked everyone, anything that he saw as a threat and it worked. Then he attacked something that only an insane person would attack, A virus, a pandemic.

Trump saw the virus as a threat and his mental illness made him incapable of making very simple, sane, decisions that would have helped protect the people, the economy, himself, his bid for re-election. He did what he always does, he attacked the threat.

He called it a hoax. He dreamed a medical miracle would happen and make the virus go away. He lied, hid the truth, failed to take action.

When he attacked the virus everything came undone for Trump. It was a catastrophic mistake caused by his mental illness. From that moment until today, Trump has continued on with his obsession trying to fix something that cannot be fixed. He has done nothing but attack any threat and it is destroying him and there is not a dam thing he can do about it. His obsession won't allow it.

He's like a machine with very few functions. Expecting him to lead competently is like expecting my sewing machine to mow the lawn. It will never happen.

In a weird way it is helpful that he is so mentally ill. Makes him predictable.

The only thing he seems to be able to scare up energy for is avoiding punishment -- the law.

That and tweeting.

I am not a psychiatrist but several have commented his issues are consistent with narcissist, sociopath. He is definitely a pathological liar. His only skill is in getting suckers to believe what he is selling them, but he has a support structure, assistance of GOP machine, FOX, and the Russians. I don't see where he woukd be good at it if he were doing it all alone. He attacks, insults, threatens lawsuits, on anyone who disagrees with him. Clueless on leadership, management, and government process. He seems to avoid prosecution by means of a loyal legal team (fixer) and his mob tactics. As Mattis said, he is a threat to our Constitution.

He knows how to hire crooked lawyers to avoid prosecution for his many crimes.

Trump may "mentally ill" and have no recourse but to do "mentally ill" things. But the bastard is also evil. I cannot mitigate his actions because he was messed up as a child. The fact is that, as an adult, he shows that he never left his disturbances behind. At some point, we have to abandon the psychological model and consider a moral-ethical one. With Trump, I've done this, and have no regrets. He's just evil. If you want evil, you've got it. And you know what? If Trump is left with a choice of defining his actions as a psychological problem or a moral-ethical one, he'll choose the former every time. It gives him an excuse. Oh, my mother did it. Or my father. And he'll never change, no only because he can't, but he won't.

10. The Handbook of Narcissism and Narcissistic Personality Disorder

Chapter 38 p. 424

Narcissistic pathology in the context of borderline organization involves the attempt to defensively retreat from a fragmentation-prone, unintegrated self into a pathological grandiose self that is characterized by the denial of dependency and finding refuge in an imagined omnipotence, often through identification with negative, aggression-laden internal objects.

against humanity was a single act - not pushing, selling, mandating, wearing a simple mask. Acting like it was for wimps. Because of this, he perpetrated negligent homicide.

It might have a place in a tool box full of coping skills but sadly it is the only coping skill in his coping skills tool box for interpersonal actions. If you were only going to have one it is not the one a rational person would pick.

So he is like a plumber with one wrench, or a builder with one hammer, nothing else.
Its so sad that so many can not see that.
