White politician bizarrely claims George Floyd's death was 'staged' in plot to hurt Donald Trump
Chairwoman Cynthia Brehm - of the Bexar County Republican Party in San Antonio, Texas - shared her conspiracy theory in a now-deleted Facebook post earlier this week.
Despite her Facebook post being removed, a metro columnist for the San Antonio Express-News was able to take a screenshot of the strange post and share it to Twitter.
In the post, Brehm wrote: "I think there is at very least the “possibility”, that this was a filmed public execution of a black man by a white cop, with the purpose of creating racial tensions and driving a wedge in the growing group of anti deep state sentiment form common people, that have already been traumatized by Covid 19 fears.
"Historically, in election years, and in politically contested areas or in groups, racial or gun violence incidents are becoming common place.
"Considering the approval rating of President Trump in the black community, an event like this was unfortunately 'Predictable.'"
The post has since been slammed as “flat-out wrong and dangerous" by Texas Democratic Party communications director Abhi Rahman, according to the Rivard Report.
“Republican State Senator Pete Flores, Governor Abbott and the Republican Party of Texas should demand Cynthia Brehm’s immediate resignation," Rahman said Wednesday evening.
“Enough is enough. When Brehm spewed crazy theories about the COVID crisis, Republican leadership’s silence was deafening. It’s no wonder why she felt emboldened to spread hate and lies once again.”
