7. I hate the use of "clever" language to disguise what actually happened.

To wit: "Monday's melee at Lafayette Square."

"Melee" implies first, both sides got into it and second, it wasn't really all that serious.

What happened was an assault on peaceful protesters at the orders of the president. "Melee" isn't the word that comes to my mind when watching footage of what happened.

I think words like "assault" "attack" or the phrase used to describe what happened in Chicago in 1968. "A police riot."
