is clear evidence that his administration has utterly failed. A good and just President has no need to turn the White House into a fortress.
Most Presidents welcome visitors to White House tours. You, Donald John Trump, stopped allowing the public to take tours of the White House as soon as you were elected. [Note: I stand corrected. He re-instituted the tours in March of 2017. Due to Covid-19, they are no longer allowed, though. My mistake.]
You are afraid of American citizens. You are afraid of people in the Democratic Party. You are even afraid of the very people you once hired to be part of your administration.
Your fences and walls and concrete barriers are nothing but protections from your own fears.
You are a scared little man who believes a President of the United States must hide away from those being governed.
Resign, Mr. President. You are not suited for the job. If you cannot welcome U.S. citizens into the People's House, you do not belong there.
Pull up your Big Boy diaper and resign. Leave governing to those who don't need to live in fear.

How sad it is that a President of the United States lives in fear of his own constituents!
Panicky fear is not a good look for "the Leader of the Free World." Nope.

(146,324 posts)Of course, he has been doing that systematically since January of 2017.
It's also prophetic for this November, I think.

(42,737 posts)While WH tours were suspended right after Trump was inaugurated in January 2017, they resumed around seven weeks later (in March 2017) and were ongoing until they were suspended again due to the pandemic. So I wouldn't cite that as an example of Trump walling off the WH.
That's not to suggest Trump isn't afraid of pretty much everything. He most clearly is.

(57,570 posts)I had a coworker who was detailed to work in the Executive Office Building. He arranged for his old office mates to apply for the tour. We all passed the test, so we got to take the tour of the West Wing one evening.
There were a lot of people in line, so it couldn't have taken that many connections.
I've never been on the daytime tour.
