and the Repugs try and stonewall any legislation it will reflect badly on them in the eyes of the majority of the American People.
This is an election year and the Repugs will be hard pressed to vote against anything that could help quell the protests and calm the violence around the country. It will reflect badly on the Repugs and will drive home their racism and disdain for people of color and accentuate their fascist ways.
So I believe this is an opportune time for the Dems to push any legislation that could put the Repugs on the defensive regarding these issues. Even if such legislation gets tabled or voted down by the Repugs - the Dems can make a campaign issue of that as well.
I hate to get political here - but our country is at stake here and we need to take back control from Trump and the Repugs. Again - I believe we have to capitalize on this situation and take advantage of the fact that the majority of the American People will be watching what both Parties do to handle this situation and will vote accordingly.

(15,159 posts)The House has passed 400 bills that sit languishing. Mitch won't do anything with them, and he will continue to ignore any new legislation that comes his way.
I agree with you that they need to be careful what they do, but if Rich Mitch believes that he can pretend his way through to November, that's what he will do. Oh, and confirm more judges.

Knee on the neck. I Can't Breathe. Autopsy report. Protests. Dem Legislation. Stonewalled by Mitch & The Repugs.
