the looting and the riots. I believe that now is a good time to show support and to spread information about the truth of the US.

(58,785 posts)white MALE power, and were elected to protect systemic race and gender inequality. They deliberately fan and harness bigotry to serve themselves. They pass and repeal laws and appoint judges in order to embed systemic racism, as in 2013 when conservative justices they appointed gutted the voting rights act of 1965.
Of course it's gotten worse wherever they've had power over the past 40 years of overall conservative domination of government. Voting responsibly in November is by far the single biggest thing anyone can do to battle systemic racism.
Not to imagine, either, that others haven't been working all along where they can to root out systemic discrimination. All through this era of conservative domination, Democrats and our allies have made advances wherever and whenever we've had the power.
The reactionary raging that comes out through such things as police murders of minorities is, in fact, a direct response to recent great advances OUR generations have made in rights for all racial and ethnic minorities, for women (HALF of all), and for LGBTQ+. And the majorities who supported those actually included many moderate conservatives because our nation's movement is to equality.
