She has had eye surgery scheduled for awhile and has been scrupulous in staying safe and protecting herself. She lives in a very privileged NC community, yet many there are scofflaws based on their political loyalties, and have joined these protests.
She brought up her anger at the stupidity and callousness of these right wingers endangering the lives of the elderly and vulnerable. All I had to do was listen sympathetically and witness.
Her trust these days is in Gov Cooper.
I hope there are many thousands more like her come November.

(71 posts)I have been out of the house three times since March 27, each time for a dr appointment. My cancer surgery is finally scheduled for tomorrow after waiting eight weeks. At 73 my husband has to run all the errands and tries to only go out once a week. Selfish, arrogant people put all of us at risk. Good news, my daughter drove 2 1/2 hrs to leave two coolers full of homemade frozen dinners for us. We social distanced from the window and she and our 21 yr old grandson remained masked and visited from the driveway for an hour before the 2 1/2 hr ride home.

(9,833 posts)surgery scheduled for Mar. 25 and then my dr. came down with Covid-19. I did have my surgery on April 10 and am now going thru radiation therapy. I hope your process goes as smoothly as mine. It sounds like you raised a lovely daughter and grandson. Sending positive vibes in your direction.
PS I lived in NC for 25 years. and miss the mountains of the High Country more than I can say.
