Trump Wants Schools to Reopen 'ASAP', Americans Fear They Won't Be Safe

President Donald Trump has issued a call for schools forced to close amid the coronavirus pandemic to be "opened ASAP," as new polling suggests that Americans do not believe it is safe yet to send children back to school.

Trump shared the sentiment in a tweet on Sunday night, writing: "Schools in our country should be opened ASAP."

"Much very good information now available," the president said, tagging British political adviser and commentator Steve Hilton and Fox News in his tweet.

The president's demand for schools to open appeared to be inspired by comments Hilton made on a Fox News panel about whether it was safe for schools to reopen.

Speaking on Fox News, Hilton had said that "there won't be a recovery" in the United States "unless we reopen schools now."

Seriously, can he be that uninformed? Even for the schools in the east, they would have only had a few more weeks at most before summer vacation.

The children have had a tough time these past few months and the parents, who did their best but are NOT trained teachers, did their best as well.

Let's give it a break and let them have a summer vacation, whether inside or outside (eventually). The healing is going to take time - our earth and our society just went through a major illness. To think that anyone can just jump up and back into normal life is so unrealistic. But isn't that just him - talk about a phased in reopening and then in the next breath want to throw everyone back into life immediately - regardless of the fact that the virus STILL SPREADS.

We have not "flattened the line" and unless they suppress the data, my guess is that after the idiots who exposed themselves over this holiday weekend, we are going to see a spike in cases within the week.

It is up to us as individuals to make informed decisions - for ourselves, our families, our health, our education. Anyone who is listening to the resident is pretty much lost in the madness at this point.
