US SCRAMBLES TO RUSH SPIES, DRONES TO LIBYA

http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/U/US_US_LIBYA_INTELLIGENCE?SITE=AP&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT&CTIME=2012-09-15-03-26-32

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The U.S. is sending more spies, Marines and drones to Libya, trying to speed the search for those who killed the U.S. ambassador and three other Americans, but the investigation is complicated by a chaotic security picture in the post-revolutionary country, and limited American and Libyan intelligence resources.

The CIA has fewer people available to send, stretched thin from tracking conflicts across the Middle East, Africa and Asia.

And the Libyans have barely re-established full control of their country, much less rebuilt their intelligence service, less than a year after the overthrow of dictator Moammar Gadhafi.

The U.S. has already deployed an FBI investigation team, trying to track al-Qaida sympathizers thought to be responsible for turning a demonstration over an anti-Islamic video into a violent, coordinated militant attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi.

Guess now that "they want us there" (like in Iraq) it's ok.

First we were told there would be a no-fly zone, which became regime-change. Then we were told regime-change would take days, not weeks, which then became months. We are ensured there will never be "boots on the ground".

Then we are told everything is fine, democracy has prevailed, a war between opposing factions will not ensue and the new government can stand on its own. Now mortar fire is hitting embassies and troops are being sent to "help out" because the locals are unable to deal with it. And people are already digging up the corpses of Quaddafi and Bin Laden to have labels to pin on the "evildoers" while pictures of happy joyful crowds (and puppies and Luke Skywalker) are being distributed to clarify who the "good guys" are which we are helping.

Forgive me if this sounds all too familiar.

Of course we should do that, as long as the government allows us to help them.

If we STAY there after we help them root those people out, then I'd have a problem with it.

And if they stay it will be because they are protecting Americans on American soil.

...to help do their job? If it is the CIA touring the area and talking to Libyan citizens, I'd wager the marines will be with them for protection.

Plus, the "spies" aren't going to stay at the embassy. What good would they do there?

Where the hell are you getting that from!?

I'm just saying there will be troops on the ground there. Hell, I even said that was a reasonable thing.
