(Bloomberg) -- Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said Congress will very likely need to pass more stimulus legislation for the U.S. economy, as the nation struggles to recover from the coronavirus outbreak.
I think there is a strong likelihood we will need another bill, he said Thursday at an online event hosted by The Hill newspaper -- but he also reiterated the Trump administrations position that more stimulus isnt needed immediately.
Were going to step back for a few weeks and think very carefully if we need to spend more money and how were going to do that, he said. He said he had spoken to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi last week about implementaion of the $2.2 trillion stimulus Congress passed in late March.
The House passed an additional $3 trillion stimulus last week but Republicans in control of the Senate have said they wont consider it. President Donald Trump and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell have said they instead want to evaluate the effect of some $5 trillion already aimed at the economy by Congress and the Federal Reserve.

(15,825 posts)I think waiting a week to see how it is going is good. I think with the unemployment six hindered dollars on top of state money and finally the right companies getting the money, we should see some good news hopefully.

(11,885 posts)They know the American people are in need of direct checks right now , and trump and McConnell are stalling them getting anything. We're headed for the Trump depression because of trump. What they are doing now is making it worse every day that goes by, and they stall.

Republicans love slavery.
They'd stop wages and make us slaves if they thought they could get away with it.
Look at private prisons and all that captive free or nearly free labor the rich pigs exploit. How long until they fuck people over even more?
