Why are there not more of these on the news? The news rarely covers such and, I'm sure, does not seek them out due to ethical considerations.
It would not be objective reporting. It would reveal an agenda. Real news organizations are too ethical to seek out and tape such interviews. I understand (although I also know Fox would do it in your grandmother's dying heartbeat).
So why doesn't The Lincoln Project, or some other non-news entity conduct a series of these? I can think of a dozen reasons the news might then be brought to the air the interviews done by a third party.
The only thing that Joe-Magahat will understand is when he sees himself, figuratively, in the mirror. These slobs can't be convinced by anyone other than the likes of Trump or other slobs, now made sober (thinking) by their experience with the virus.

(58,785 posts)I heard that a new poll showed something like 84 or 86% were concerned that "reopening" would cause disease to flare while the rest said they weren't.
A good idea as far as it goes. It might hit home with some in that big majority who are concerned but probably not as much as they should be. Those who watch something other than Fox.
As for those intransigent deniers, though, this kind of "obvious lie" just reinforces their belief that a vast evil conspiracy controls the evening news and local newspapers also.

(6,448 posts)Everything seems to be sensationalized or infotainment. Even a so-called "lefty" channel, MSNBC, helped put His Incompetence in the White House.
Cronkite, Brinkley, and Mike Wallace are gone. Dan Rather is semi-retired. Hugh Downs is in exile in his retirement.
The last example of news ethics I can recall is when Bryant Gumbel discovered that his friend, Arthur Ashe, had AIDS. Gumbel had the biggest scoop of that time and kept it to himself out of loyalty and ethics.
Reporters today are lazy and seek out the freaks of our world. They don't have to look far. They knew this would be coming when Trump got all that free coverage. Someday, we'll have President Honey Boo-Boo.

(15,805 posts)Trump's minions are so brainwashed they are beyond thinking or reasoning. Until they themselves, or someone they care about is infected and is on life support in a hospital, they will find an excuse to pretend the corona virus is a hoax
Mind you, if they are only mildly sick it won't be enough to change their minds, it will only convince them that Trump is right and they have nothing to worry about.
Those who become infected, for good or bad, will still be in denial even as they grow sicker. They will procrastinate, stall, delay and wait for deliverance because of the rosy scenarios Trump has given them. When they finally have no other choice than to get to the hospital, the damage has already been done and many will not survive.
Trump's incredibly shrinking voter base cannot withstand any significant loss.

It made a lot of people in this semi-redneck town realize it's real. Funny, the radio quit running these spots 2 weeks ago. They now want us to get out and congregate so have pulled the Boselli spots.

'Even as distribution of tobacco products remains legal, the number of smokers in the United States has declined from 42 percent in 1965 to less than 17 percent today a trend that surveys show has been driven by both health warnings and high excise taxes.'

(10,053 posts)My friend's trumpy sister has been fighting with her maga friends on Facebook since she posted a local news article (https://www.palmbeachpost.com/news/20200518/coronavirus-florida-jupiter-farms-man-was-virus-skeptic-until-it-infected-him )about a man who contracted Covid-19 in her county after being a denier. She has turned a corner, so maybe others can too.
