Trump now accusing news organisations of illegally smearing him with "illegal" coverage

You better get with taking him down before he Erdogan's you all into journalist prison.

For Donald Trump, it's not enough to condemn his political opponents; he consistently finds it necessary to accuse them of unidentified crimes. As we discussed last week, the sitting American president has publicly called for criminal prosecutions of his former presidential rival, his presidential predecessor, and his current presidential rival, among many others.

But as Trump sees criminals lurking in every corner, his focus isn't limited to public officials. Late yesterday, for example, the Republican published a tweet that was apparently directed at CNN's Jake Tapper.

"They, and the Lamestream Media (including Jake), have spent 3 1/2 years illegally smearing me. They got caught!"

Note, the president could've simply accused news organizations of "smearing" him, or made an argument about reporting he considers unfair, but for Trump, that's not good enough. He instead felt the need to argue that American news organizations are guilty of "illegal" coverage.

And prop up even the most outrageous conspiracy theory he and the Republican Party force into the discussion.

They had a choice: a full-out assault on his lies, or a soft peddle that placed them in a neutral zone. Leave it to Trump to de-neutralize it and cast them as the villains in his autobiography known as the presidency.

If only the so-called liberal media truly acted liberally, we would take on FOX and Limbaugh and win. Instead, the meely mouthed both-siderism that they're afflicted with leaves them to fall prey to Trump's tiny accusatory finger, as they get no credit whatsoever for the cover fire they've been producing to protect the sanctity of the presidency.

Wants to be a dictator able to declare that all must bow down to him and that it's criminal/blasphemous to tell the truth about him.

Bring it. If you think it's illegal-- and that President Obama was the most corrupt in our history-- let's see your case.

Except for one detail: Laws are based on the Constitution and its Amendments, the First of which guarantees a free press. You can't jail them legally.

Stop being such a baby snowflake and man-up. Criticism comes with the job or hadn't you noticed?

Ass.
