(15,124 posts)They REALLY don't want the people to vote easily from the comfort of their own homes.
What are you scared of, boys? An energized populous that boots you out of power?

Senator John Cornyn can vote by mail - why can't you?
We must protect Texans' constitutional right to vote - and preserve the integrity of our elections. Individuals must be allowed the opportunity to #VoteByMail2020.

(15,124 posts)is that VBM doesn't ALWAYS mean Dems win. Four years ago, reliably blue Oregon (100% VBM) chose a Republican for Secretary of State. My Congressman (the odious Greg Walden) has been reelected multiple times. He is retiring this year and that means I will have an even MORE odious Representative.

(22,137 posts)elections to a later (and more safer date), it backfired on republicans in getting out the backlash / anti republican vote and the republican candidate lost, and one of the big reasons their republican candidate lost, was that their very own republican voters didn't want to go out in a possible CV-infected environment either! This is a big point.
If I were a democratic candidate (or the democratic party), I would start pushing everywhere/nationally for voting by mail, and other safe and totally fraud free voting.
No, the republicans are so desperate to retain whatever it is that constitutes power to them (this is a question that needs some serious investigation or looking into), why are they so insistent in appointing 'conservative' judges? This hasn't happen 100% either in the direction that they were going for, some things still got by the 'conservative judges'. Why are they so keen to retain power? It isn't military power, there is no adversary on the field that can blow a candle to us in a fight/conflict. It can't be their economy policies, after all, look how it all collapsed in early 2020 (even w/ the massive 2017 tax cut and jobs bill).
So, it isn't conservative control of the supreme court (and even if you have control of choosing the judges, it doesn't mean you've secured their votes on issues important to you), it isn't control of the military (no conflicts anywhere serious enough that would catch attention so far), it isn't control of the economy (look at what it turned into, after 10+ years of gain, look at quickly it collapsed (the markets)). A joke. You would think that if I were guaranteed a winning streak in Wall Street for 10+ years, I would have been saving money for a rainy day right and left. Did this happen? NO. What happened is that control of the economy slipped further into the 1%ers' hands/control and the rest of us were left with even less.
