On Friday, Republican officials in the State of Kansas revealed that they are considering removing President Obama from November's presidential ballot.
The reason?
The panel of Republicans, which consists of Secretary of State Kris Kobach, Attorney General Derek Schmidt and Lt. Gov. Jeff Colyer, received a complaint from a resident who claimed Obama was not a natural born citizen and therefore ineligible to be president.
Joe Montgomery, who filed the ballot challenge that is now being pursued by Kansas, said, "there is substantial evidence showing that much of Mr. Obamas alleged birth certificates have been forged or doctored, and have not been confirmed as legally valid, true and accurate.
In response, White House press secretary Jay Carney told Jake Tapper, who broached the issue at an afternoon presser:
And the name. Kansas? Isn't there already an Arkansas? Doesn't sound true and accurate to me.

(13,776 posts)I believe you--I'm a big fan of the Midwest, and "Minnesota Nice" isn't just limited to Minnesota. It must be frustrating to be surrounded by such sweet, nice, genuinely good people without being able to persuade them that the party that really reflects their kind-hearted principles is the Democratic party and not the GOP.
Sometimes it's more than frustrating ; it's infuriating. Highly educated people defy all logic in favor of the rumor emails and Limbaugh.

From your link, Playinghardball..
"If we find that Kansas was not actually born in the U.S., and is not actually an original member state but a fraud, we will be forced to remove it from the electoral college," the statement read.
Officials are waiting for Kansas to prove its membership by delivering to the White House verified copies of its original constitution, as well as proof that the rock band Kansas was named after the state, and not the Kansa Native American tribe (which formerly inhabited the area).
So far, Kansas officials have yet to produce the required documents."
Sounds like the White House is playing hardball!

The republican idiots on the board are NOT letting go of their chance to stick it to Obama.

(34,119 posts)This is what we live with here. The few of us who venture out with liberal ideas and and work for the good of ALL the people live under (I do mean under) these bozos. You think it is bad now? You aint seen nothing yet. If we have 30 Democrats anywhere in the vicinity of the Legislature this year we will be lucky and the moderate Republicans have been decimated. We are now in the hands of the talibornagain teabillies lead by the head of the talibornagain cretins, Brownback.
Wish us luck. Don't tell me about leaving, not even going to consider it. This is my state too, once called a Free State and I am not leaving. We could certainly use some help here though. Hell, I am tickled to death that the White House even knows we exist! The Democrats certainly don't.

(291 posts)than sitting there with your head in your hands. The problem is these guys really believe this shit. I personally think they are a bunch of bigots. They are racists and don't like black people. I grew up in a very white small protestant town- these guys are not exposed to a lot of different cultures or ethnic backgrounds. They will always vote for the white guy who acts like he is one of them. Bush Jr could do that-Romney can't. But he is white and Obama is black. Or half anyway. Bigots, really-sad isn't it. I think I feel pity on them. I still can't laugh.

Of course, the comments by people looking at the image, trying to figure out what was wrong with the map were also amusing...

Its rather like when the Israelites kept getting their butts kicked by picking fights with the Assyrians or whomever: they told themselves they lost because they werent religiously observant enough, then proceeded to test that belief by losing again.
