I am so scared about November. The polls are not low enough. The nation has a short memory. People are already acting like it's over and they can get on with their lives.
Why does it have to take a national pandemic to enable us to get rid of the most corrupt President we have had in my life.
We have the Lincoln Project on our side. We have Mike Bloomberg's war chest. And yet, I am still scared.
And I do know why. It's because up until March, NOTHING he did, NOTHING he said was sufficient ammunition to get rid of him. Countless white Americans knew he was a scumbag, but planned to vote for him anyway. Too many young Americans, disillusioned by the primaries, were going to stay home. Too many closet racists want to make sure we don't have another person of color in the White House. Too many sexist pigs want a leader who sleeps with porn stars, while he's married, and his wife lives with it. 'Do You Think I Care?"
And way, way, way too many people don't vote at all.
On top of that, there will be vote tampering, disenfranchisement, voter suppression. Every trick in the Republican playbook.
If only he would catch the damned virus.

(130,974 posts)Us losing is part of the russkies playbook, their plan to ruin the U.S., hence they chose trump.

(15,222 posts)I fully expect shenanigans before the election, I worry that the election will be manipulated AGAIN and I wont survive another four years of Trump. Many of us wont.

(4,218 posts)I cant give in to the fear. It will be tough but things will get better. I cant allow myself to stay in that low point devoid of hope. I force myself to go to a better place mentally.

(6,687 posts)An election is not going to fix it. Even if a miracle happens and there is an honest vote.
Money in elections dictates which candidates we have. Media skews information for ratings in ways that advance even more ratings and skew how people choose. Misinformation campaigns are everywhere.
There is almost NO Avenue to have an honest open conversation about issues and solutions. Perception is reality. Bumper sticker / Twitter "debate" is all that is left.
I think elections matter, but fixing social discourse and media has to be near the top of goals or America will not make it much longer.

(6,148 posts)but I don't know what to do about it.
Got any ideas? Have you been anywhere or seen anything that is fighting this madness? Not a candidate, but an organization?

(7,968 posts)I fear that we will not make it to November. We are in a critical time. Anything could happen and unlike Trump we know that we can't wish it to be good. We had better prepare for the very worse. And honestly, I think that is what is coming.
I think the ultra-right that has taken over our country will, like a wounded animal, leave nothing to the imagination and fight to the death. It will not be pretty and we may not win.

(8,144 posts)working to put Biden in the White House along with a stellar, brilliant roster of governors, mayors, local, state, national politicians across America, former candidates (beautiful candidates) and voters from every demographic, and the fantastic, patriotic black, Latinx electorate, young Asian-Americans, labor, urbanites, suburbanites, native Americans, and all of us who have been gnashing our teeth and wanted the nightmare over...
Great candidate who communicates tremendous warmth and compassion, hope, inspiration, is tenacious, has been tested, developing great plans on all fronts working with the whole political
spectrum....he has world stature, indefatigable, passionately wants to work for us and a better world...
Soon he will choose a VP, cabinet, and his political experience and expertise will click in. Just as in the primary, there will be surprises. So far every theme he emphasized (and many laughed at or disparaged) has been one huge numbers have since adoptedunity, struggle for soul of America,
restoring sanity, back to Obama to build on, but forward into more progressive policy than any Dem nominee in history, science over fiction, my gosh.
We need to GOTV, support, defend, promote, and quote our nominee and donate as we can.
Yes! We can. We must.

(22,100 posts)I would like to think that most people agree with Joe Biden--We are in a battle for the soul of this nation.
I think there are many, many regretful trump voters out there. I've talked to some. They've had their eyes opened since 2016, never dreaming trump would be a complete horror show. Dems are in battle mode like they have not been in a long time. Sure there's going to be more dirty tricks, but I really believe the blue tsunami is coming. That's what its going to take to shove this stupidly evil man out the door.
I can't think about trump being in office another 4 years, or I would finish losing my mind.

(1,096 posts)I had been feeling like there was no way Trump could win another term. Period. But it's not 45 who will be doing the winning. The winning will be done by no-information voters, Fox, hate radio, MSM coverage, foreign governments and repub dirty tricksters. And then I remembered how I felt when dubya was reelected. Stunned beyond belief. As in 'Toto, I don't think we're in Kansas any more'. It was surreal.
This experience cannot happen again. As has been said many times before - every single informed person needs to vote like their life depends on it. Because it does.

(6,148 posts)You said "informed voters".
I don't think we live in a country of informed voters. We live in a country of "sound-bite" voters. If the commercial is more than 5-10 seconds, uninformed voters don't want to see it. That's why that incredibly lengthy piece on Trump's COVID-19 failure bothered me so much. "Low-info" voters aren't going to watch. Show Trump's "bleach" speech, and that's more powerful.
Sometimes, I think we only have COVID-19 as ammo against him.
What I would like to see is about 5-8 BIG campaign promises that he didn't come through on. And on the screen a big X, a typed script, and a noise like "Family Feud".

This is no country at all, if that, is allowed to continue.
Besides, who wants to be forced to tolerate this much assholian ignorance fueled by their selfish greedy fuckstick psycho puppeteers?
Usually white men with ISSUES or just totally detestable shits?
Paying teachers nothing, but oh you can throw a baseball accurately at a high speed, oh here, make 2000x more than a teacher per year and even guarantee ya a huge pay day if you get hurt!
What could go wrong in a system that does that, and it's just one extreme cherry picked, ofc.
