This is the reason why Canada should not open the border anytime soon. The number of COVID-19 cases in the United States will soar thanks to selfish idiots like these who won't practice social distancing.

Erick Bellomy@erickbellomy
Bars and Restaurants opened up in Ohio today and this is what a bar in Columbus looks like currently. No social distancing, no masks, & not a single care in the world. I’m pretty sure I’m witnessing the second wave of COVID19 brew right now. #ohio #COVID19 #SocialDistancing

I agree Canada shouldn't open its borders to the US.

Even our own citizens have to self-quarantine for 14 days when they come back in, from ANYWHERE!

Well, yeah - essential workers like truck drivers don't, but I suspect they have strict guidelines to follow on both sides of the border.

One of my brothers is stuck in Vietnam - most international flights cancelled there and all. He's been escaping our winters for a decade over there (Vietnam, Thailand etc.,)

He's well aware that he has to isolate himself for 2 weeks whenever he returns, and he's anxious - he's got a 30+ foot sailboat waiting for him here, spends most of the summer sailing around Lake Ontario

.
.

Haven't been out shopping for 2 months - gonna finally venture out Tuesday, just got masks a few days ago. Us North Americans were really slow catching on - heck, my brother sent me a pic from Vietnam of him Feb 3rd, and he, as well as everyone else were wearing masks. We should pay close attention to how the East Asians have kept their death toll so low . . . . hell - we should have paid attention way back in February!

By the time we caught on - shortages were everywhere. I could find them in the USA, but USA would not ship them to Canada. It took 4 weeks for the ones I ordered from Walmart to arrive - from CHINA

Yeah - heard the stories about unsuitable/defective ones from China, but hey - it's all I could find. I'll be carrying spares for anyone that wants to get near me, or I them - bagged all 50 of them separately just for that purpose.

I'm 69, and 50 years of drinking and smoking has left me with a not too healthy body.

I'm paying close attention to this virus thingy . . . .

It should not be taken lightly.

Smaller in scale as the short north bar in the picture but the same thing. 20 or so people in a small area with no social distancing and as I was waiting on my carry out order I caught crap about wearing a mask..

I’d love to see us in Michigan use the National Guard to seal the borders with WI, OH and IN.

These pictures demonstrate the need to setup hard checkpoints at the border with OH and IN.

I totally understand. I wouldn't let us in either. If this A-hole gets a second term, Mr. Maru and I will likely just move north permanently anyhow. It's one of the perks of being a nurse. You can pretty much go anywhere you want. I would prefer New Zealand, but that would be too far to see the the GrandbabyMaru often enough.

Interesting experience there . . .

I lived in California for 14 months 79-80 - went thru a dozen or more brands, settling finally on Budweiser.

I'm quite the beer-hound - gotta watch my intake or I end up stumbling drunk, but still lucid.

ANYHOO - on my return to Ontario in 1980, I immediately gravitated to OUR Budweiser, and still paying close attention to my intake.

Took me a a month or more to figure out why I was getting hammered much sooner.

Bud in the US was 4% alcohol - ours - 5%

So, 8 beers here = 10 beers there - alcohol-wise

Readjusted intake,

problem solved

Thirsty bunch...

and for what it's worth, Gov. DeWine decried the situation
After a large crowd packed the patio of a Short North restaurant on Friday evening, the office of Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine warns the state will enforce its coronavirus precaution guidelines against “irresponsible” offenders.

The gathering at Standard Hall, 1100 N. High St., prompted Columbus Public Health to issue a warning to the establishment, where most did not appear to be wearing masks or practicing six-foot social distancing.

The governor’s office did not mention Standard Hall in issuing a statement Saturday afternoon. But, it noted, “anecdotes are being distributed across the state about establishments that opened and allegedly ignored safety guidelines.”

DeWine press secretary Dan Tierney said: “Those who operate their businesses while disregarding safety guidelines, designed to protect the health of their customers and all Ohioans, are being irresponsible and need to understand that these guidelines will be enforced.”

Tierney noted that most Ohio bars and restaurants permitted to offer outside dining and drinks beginning Friday did “their part to follow best practices to keep patrons safe and socially distanced.”
