Trump instilled 'competitive' nature in kids by tripping them while they were skiing,

Ivanka Trump says."

Whether he's facing off against a global pandemic or his 10-year-old children, President Trump has always wanted to win.

Trump has turned coronavirus into a global competition over the past few weeks, particularly bragging about how much better the U.S. is supposedly doing than South Korea when it comes to COVID-19 testing. But about 25 years ago, Trump was more fond of racing his young children down ski hills and apparently trying to trip them in the process, they told New York Magazine in a December 2004 article.

The oldest Trump children have had a healthy dose of "sibling rivalry" in their lives since they were young, and it stems from their father, New York Magazine writes. "We were sort of bred to be competitive," Ivanka Trump said at the time. "Dad encourages it. I remember skiing with him and we were racing. I was ahead, and he reached his ski pole out and pulled me back." Eric Trump has a similar memory: "He would try to push me over, just so he could beat his 10-year-old son down the mountain," he said.

No matter how many times the Trump kids ended up face-down in the snow, they're all united behind their father today. Read more of their throwback thoughts at New York Magazine.

They could have been seriously injured or worse. What kind of father treats his children that way? Most fathers would allow their children to win and be happy for them.

The more you know about him, the worse it gets. He is just a horrible, evil, sick human being. It's a shame he wasn't aborted.

Sadly and to tragic consequence, yes. That is what people tend to mean by the "American Way".

a lot of abused children are strangely devoted to an abusive parent. Probably hoping that someday he will love them. Donald Jr. seems rather transparently that way (and God knows what was going on with Ivanka and Daddy).

invented by a cop to explain away the botching of a hostage situation and discount the anger of one of the hostages, and that using the phrase both minimizes the dynamic between an abuser and the victim and discounts the experience and perspective of the victim, just as the original use of the phrase did.

Persons with Cluster B personality disorders can’t stand to lose.

They’re emotional children, and they never get better. In fact, they get worse as they age.

And felt humiliated that she showed him up on the slopes. He's such a pathetic egomaniac. I am sure he was a terrible skiier. I can just picture what he looked like on the slopes.

I tried to google for pics of him skiing and couldn't find any. Just pics of his head superimposed on olympic racers or him standing there with Marla or his family in ski gear, but not actually skiing. Not one.

I am sure he had them all purged so nobody could make fun of him.

I see this in a lot of high school kids I knew. Not the greatest people I should add... most majorly fuc*ed up.

Dad did the same thing - they grew up "respecting" the dad as the absolute authority figure (and it transfers over to trump).
See "daddy" is "never wrong". So it "must" be right to do that, and it cements in their mind that authoritarianism = love.

Not many of them grow up to be like Trump. I think he was born evil and his upbringing only made him worse. In fact, I don't think he was nearly as abused as many other children are.

Fred was tough and unloving, but I don't believe he was physically abusive and Trump never lacked for anything. He has no excuse for his behavior. I don't feel a bit sorry for him no matter how he was brought up.
