the poll shows Mitt ahead by 3 nationally and tied in swing states .
And they Just cant shut Up about it .
Anyway when does Ras start coming to terms with reality . I didnt follow the 2008 polls was it after the debates of a few weeks to the election ?

(8,492 posts)It's been entertaining. And, to answer your question, there is no reality at Rasmussen. Although, I do believe that after Pres. Obama was elected they did release a new poll showing McCain with only a 2 point lead.

(26,045 posts)...Gallup has also shown the President's lead dropping (he's still +5 there, but, since it's a seven-day poll, there are still a lot of "early bounce" days about to drop off). The race does appear to be tightening again. More surprising to me is that it doesn't seem as if Romney's Libya gaffe is having any negative effect whatsoever in the polls.

(1,828 posts)I think that Gallup is reflecting the dropoff of the big days, that's all. Whether or not it stabilizes now is the question.

(26,045 posts)Right now, the oldest polling day in the Gallup results is the day after Obama's acceptance speech. It figures that those numbers would be very favorable. I would guess probably the same for the Saturday after the convention. As I said before, I could easily imagine the lead dropping by a point each day for the next two, leaving the race O+3 by Sunday night. (By which time, I would assume, Ras will have Rmoney up by double-digits. )

(19,458 posts)A word to the newbies on DU though... Why is it that new people seem to be the ones that post the bad polls most often? Weird.

(22,541 posts)His last poll was an extreme outlier too. Matter of fact, to see if your poll is right you hope his says the opposite.

(31,706 posts)...was a comment I heard from a pollster earlier. By now 99% of the electorate has decided and it's that small number of either "undecideds" or just outright unattentives that are left to sway. Hundreds of millions are to be waged at trying to move a point here and a point there but these numbers are starting to "stiffen" and its not looking good for the Bishop.
Here's hoping the great unhinged believe those polls and figure the election's a done deal...they stay home and eat lots of cheetos.

(26,060 posts)It'll make their rage and tears so much sweeter election night. If the President wins, as soon as it's called, I will put on faux news and revel in their angst (not the prettiest part of my personality but whatever).

(27,787 posts)In 2008, they leaned GOP all summer. And then, in that last week, suddenly Obama was up in their polls.
